I haven't gotten to sleep yet because I am having a scary experience right now. While in bed my feet felt totally numb. Then they began to feel hot and turn red, then they would feel cold. They hare having weird sensations like this.

I haven't taken adderall since yesterday so I am not sure if that is what is causing this. Last night I took zyrtec for the first time and I don't know if it may be doing something to me being I am on adderall. My legs are feeling kind of weak/numb and so are my arms. This may partially be due to me panicing about this. Can someone please tell me what could be happening?

I still don't know why this happened but it seemed to stop when I started walking around. I know I haven't been sleeping right for a while, and I haven't been eating enough either. I am just worried that me taking zyrtec at night and adderall during the day may be what caused this. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.

Adderall is a vasoconstrictor, meaning it tightens up your blood vessels because it induces the body's fight or flight response. Yep, stimulants just make your body think it has a good chance of getting into a dangerous situation for survival, which is why you feel more alert. It's self-preservation mode.

Vasoconstriction is caused because of this in order to keep your blood near the center of your body, the important areas such as your brain, over to your biceps and down to your quadriceps. This is to bring the most available oxygen to your critical organs and muscles, to enhance survival chance should you need to fight or flight.

And simply put, adderall causes vasoconstriction. Smaller blood vessel openings mean less blood is going to your periphrials, so coldness or numbness can follow taking adderall.

Also equally important, a lack of sleep does cause circulatory problems, which can exponentiate the minor vasoconstriction adderall provides. Heck when I was having problems sleeping before even thinking about stimulants (running thoughts, thanks add inattention!). That lack of sleep caused blood flow to my feet and hands to decrease, and I always had cold hands or feet the night after a night staying up.

I'm not the one to ask about how dangerous the vasoconstriction is, because quite frankly i'm not sure.

I agree with ecu 20, this probably has to do with Adderall affecting your circulation. Also the nervous impulses from your legs/arms are influenced by the drug.
I´ve had all sorts of strange experiences on Strattera; Raynauld (white, vasoconstricted hands and feet), flushed glowing warm, red hands and feet and a different kind of sensation. I feel like the signals from my arms and legs are increased, and they feel heavier and more easy to controle. Before medication my legs and arms would feel light and weak and I would bump into things and loose things a lot.
So, basically, yes, I think these are side effects of Adderall. Try to notice if they come on the drug or when it weans off. Maybe it will get better with time. I got relly bad Raynauld from Strattera initially, but after a month or so, it got much better.

Yes, amphetamines can cause that, but it's probably also that you're making it worse by panicking over it. If you have a benzo that will help.

Also, Viagra or Cyalis, they are vasodilators that work like within 15 minutes.

IMO countering side effects of amphetamine with a benzodiazapine, even on a once weekly or greater time frame, is a dangerous road to a quickly messed up path. I would not recommend that

I too have the cold feet......

Sitting in my cab with the cold feet I was a bit alarmed, so I did some reserch on my cell phone internet. There is a circulatory issue going on.

Besides adderall, users, people with some other medical conditions experience cold feet. High blood pressure can lead to that, but in my case my pressure was ok according to the blood pressure thing at wally world. (wal mart)

Some reccomedations given for cold feet sufferers include getting up and walking around to get the circulation going, and wearing support stockings (like a grandma) that will help promote better circulation.

I am going to put in a call to the counseling center Monday and tell them about my cold feet.

Just remember DO NOT PANIC..... I do not let myself panic anymore cause things only get worse when panicing.

Well I'm prescribed both Adderall and Klonopin and there's no problem with it. In fact lots of doctors prescribe the combination.

Until you quit the klono's cold turkey...

I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.

The support stockings helped today, my feet were in the cool to cold side instead of being ICE COLD

i have had the same experience. i have always had cold hands and feet, but since starting ritalin it's exacerbated the issue... and yesterday the top half of right big toe became completely numb and turned white for about an hour. i took my shoe off walked around massaged it, nothing helped until i ran it under hot water. it was as if it had frost-bite???

im glad i found this thread because i was a little freaked out about it. thanks guys.
