my dr just switched me from 10mg ir twice a day to 15mg xr twice a day. I have a lot of work to do so i took one around 10 another at about 2, thats what he told me to do. They didnt really do anything the 10mg ir worked better, they just didnt work for long. Ok so then i poured out the orange beads, crushed them and put them back in the capsule and took it that way. Now my heart is pounding what should I do?????

try to relax..... if you are anxious about your heart beat, you will cause your heart t beat faster
if your heart rate is not better you should seek medical help.

I was having heart palpitations long before I was diagnosed with ADD and first started on wellbutrin , then vyvanse , and now adderall.
while on the vyvanse I came down with a sinus infections ENT doc put me on
mucinex -D (expectorant with sudafed) along with Prednisone.
The palpitations became unbearable. so I cut my dose of mucinex-d in half after a week. then dropped it all together. the Palps continued. so I went to see me doctor about it. I told him my heart was pounding 24 hours a day. even when I woke up in the middle of the night and in the morning.
So he put me on a holter monitor for 24 hours. (just happens to be the day I was not taking prednisone as I was weaning off of it.) I still had some papls but not as bad. the next day I took my next weaning dose of prednisone and the palps came back with a fury. so that was the last dose of steroids I was supposed to take. and the papls continued after a week of not having anything but my ADD med. So the Doctor calls and says... well your heart is fine except you have extra beats every once in a while and that could be causing my symptoms. He RX'ed me metoprolol. 25mg tablet , I break it in half and take a half tablet twice a day with a meal. well after 8 hours from my frirst dose. The palps were gone. ! What a huge releif. My anxiety dropped my BP and HR dropped to 127/76 HR of 68. I feel so much better.
this B1 beta blocker is the greatest thing to happen to me since starting ADD med. .. well I just wanted to share..
good luck on your problem !

when that happens to me, i take a small dose of ativan (a benzo) and it helps a lot. i think it's relatively safe to take it with a benzo (as long as it's not an extremely high dose) as i've read that docs have even reccomended it.

This is definitely true... I used to get paranoid about my heartbeat on adderall all the time. I eventually realized that the more I worried and felt to see how fast my heart was beating, the more intense it seemed to be. I still get like that once in awhile even though I know I'm just making it worse. I totally understand that it can make you nervous.. but don't let yourself get freaked out. Trying to relax and take your mind off of it is really the best thing to do, and it should work.

Before I read it in the title of this post.........I wasn't even thinking about my heart rate!!
Now I am noticing it......
(thinking about something will make it true)

Okay first of all, I can't say what's best for you because I'm not a doctor, but I used to be a pharmacy tech. I can tell you that if you were taking 10mg IR 2x/daily (I'm assuming that's what you're saying) That's equal to 1 20mg XR Daily, if your doctor was aiming for a sustained release effect from 2 XR's, 1 20mg Adderall XR BID (aka twice daily) would be more suitable, or 4 10mg Adderall IR spread out daily. Don't crush / snort / chew / screw with your adderall capsules in any way (the only exception is to pour the beads out onto applesauce and consume the contents immediately, don't store it). The reason Adderall XR offers an alternative for some individuals with trouble consuming pills is because the beads can be sprinkled onto applesauce, consumed immediately and still result in an almost exact release into the bloodstream is if the capsule is eaten by itself. Scientific Plasma concentration levels on the release into the bloodstream have proven this. But if you're feeling extremely anxious try drinking anything remotely acidic such as orange juice, grape juice, etc this will reduce the absorption of amphetamines in your stomach. Avoid any gastrointestinal basic agents (Sodium bicarbonate [baking soda], Antacids, etc.) as this will increase the absorption and worsen the side effects.
