One thing that I have not seen mentioned very much is the effect of Adderall on the hyperactivity part of ADHD. When I am not on medication I will constantly bounce my leg up and down rapidly while sitting down. Adderall has no effect on this symptom, and sometimes i feel as though it may be making it worse (although I think it is simply that I am more aware of the fact that I am doing it).
I am currently on 20mg Adderall XR in the morning and 10mg generic IR as needed (usually taken after the XR wears out) and today is my 5th day. Is the fact that hyperactivity is not diminishing a sign that I may require higher doses, or does Adderall not even have an effect on that particular symptom?
That might not be a symptom of hyperactivity. I do that all the time, but I've never had a hyperactive element to my ADD. I'm inattentive type, and if anything, I'm hypoactive. When I bounce my leg, it's not because I want to get up and move around. It's just involuntary, like hiccups. It's a weird thing because I'm not an energetic person and I rarely feel the impulse to get up and bounce around, like typical ADHD people do. But my leg has a mind of its own sometimes.

I'm wondering about adderall and the hyperactive thing too. I am both hyperactive and inattentive. Always been very hyper. I take prozac which helps both with depression and the mental agitation that leads to hyperactivity but doesn't do great for the attention part. Doctor prescribed adderall and I tried it a few different times. Trying it once more. Sometimes it works, but it seems to have some of the opposite effect. I usually drink 3 or 4 cups of coffee in a day. Not sure if stopping that would help or if adderall just isn't going to work for me.
