from Wallgreens...

10mg = $148

So much for the great savings.......

Apparently the 20-mg isn't in the system. They have not received any generics yet, but can order it in 5 business days.

Any suggestions on where/how to save a bit on the $148 price tag?

Thanks....

Unfortunately, the best way to go would be to go through your insurance if you have any.

$148 for how many? I know my 15mg XR is like $471 for 60 without insurance, but I only pay $25

Teva is the only generic manufacturer right now. They have 6 months of exclusitivity where they are they only authorized generic. In 6 months other generic companies will jump on and the price will drop.

There is only a $40.00 or so price difference between the brand and generic right now.

that's ridiculous. What's the point of having generics if the price is almost the same. This is exactly what is wrong with healthcare in the u.s. lawyers and loopholes making consumers pay more than they need to. I can see why insurance companies get so mad.

Shire actually makes the generic Adderall XR for Teva right now and controls the wholesale pricing. That will change after the first 6 months.

Because i'm a costco employee with company Aetna insurance, i pay $6 each prescription for my generic adderall IR and XR.
Before the XR went generic i only paid $20.

Costco is always the industry leader in low cost prescriptions, but without insurance i'm sure it will still be very pricey, but much less than the other pharmacies and what you are paying now. Membership to Costco is not required to use the pharmacy. Just state to the door person upon entering that you are going to the pharmacy, and you are let in. Prescriptions are allowed to be purchased by non members.

Focalin, I know how expensive it can be. If you continue to use Walgreens, you may want to look into their prescription savings plan https://webapp.walgreens.com/MYWCARDWeb/servlet/walgreens.wcard.proxy.WCardInternetProxy/RxSavingsRH?# . Its not going to save a you a ton of money, when I calculated back when my son was taking Concerta, there was a $25 savings a month, which roughly translated into two months free during a twelve month period.

You may want to call around to Sams or Costco and see if getting a membership there would be worth the drug savings. Also check other pharmacys in your area, they may be selling the same medication for cheaper.

I just took my first dose of Adderall today. I'm excited to see if it will help.

Good Luck!
