On conclusion of my appointment last night, my Psyche Doc prescribed Wellbutrin XL 150mg

When i went to a pharmacy i dont normally go to (i work for Costco, and our pharmacy was by now closed, and i needed to have my first dose began the next morning, so ..) and they gave me the generic form..manufactured by teva called budeprion. I'm never one to ingest any drug without first researching it, and all i found online were negative comments about this particular generic version. Anyone out there currently taking this generic form? is this generic really different from the brand? can you recommend a better generic brand? I'm a bit concerned as i want to have a good benefit from this drug and wish to be positive, so any good news is welcome..but truth is always better.

Hi BessieMae

My dh takes bp to help cut back on smoking and desire to drink it has been helpfull but not a cure for him. He has been able to moderate and we are talking about trying to quit smoking together.

I believe he is undiagnosed add and see little difference in him in regards to the generic bupronion

there are so many uses for different medications and i hope you find it helpful for your needs.

I started on 150 mg generic wellbutrin (teva) about 8 months ago. After three months I upped to 300 mg. I haven't noticed any negative side effects. I feel better but still feel scattered and unmotivated just not as bad as before so now we're investigating ADD meds.

Anyways, I've read the negative stuff online about Teva but haven't felt effected. Overall I've been generally happy with it and it has totally helped me cut down on drinking and social anxiety. I just wish the initial "boost" of motivations would have lasted.

I take 300mg of bp XL daily and don't have any side effects or feel medicated which I love. It is helpful with anxiety as well as depression which is why it is prescribed for smoking cessation, to aid in the "nic" attacks:)

I take it for anxiety and depression and not for my ADHD, and it works, but I still smoke mainly because I like it and am not resolved to quit, but have smoked less frequently I notice.

I do take low dose Focalin, usually 10mg but for busy days or when I really need to have my wits about me I will overlap another 10mg after about 2 hours. I drink a LOT of coffee and therefore have some difficulty with the more intense stimulants or higher dosages. My psych jokes that I take infant doses but it does help me tremendously when I need to be able to focus at work, and I never take it on weekends when not at work, I kind of like the scatter:)
