Do my doc decided to get me to try Concerta. I was on 20mg Adderall XR once per day which we were going to drop to 15mg once per day due to side effects.
I now have concerta 18mg once a day for the next week. After a week I`ll be taking 27mg once per day. What concerta dose is roughly equivalent to 20mg adderall XR ?
I have taken my 18mg tablet today a couple of hours ago and so far nothing adverse or anything and everything seems fine and normal. I wonder how this feels compared with Adderall XR.
Any other Adderall XR users who switched to concerta? How was the experience?

I took my first 18mg yesterday. I did not feel drowsy, wired or agitated whereas my 20mg Adderall XR tends to give me a wired and anxious feeling. That was not visible on the Concerta.
I think I did feel more focused throughout the day, not sure how to compare the focus between adderall xr 20mg and concerta 18mg ... but I think it was working well. In a weeks time I`ll be on the next dose level (28mg ?) and my doc said that is likely what i`ll need.
I will keep reporting back on how the experience is going. But so far so good. And yes it did seem to last 10-12 hours and did not affect my sleep. I took it at 10am and went to sleep at 11pm just fine.

Now that it has been over a month, how well is Concerta working for you over the Adderall XR? I've been on AXR 20 for a couple of months but was recently switched to generic and have been having some issues. I'm going to talk to my DR about it but wanted to hear about it from those that have already made the switch. Any bit of info will be greatly appreciated.
Ughh, been a while since I worked the conversion numbers but here is the approximate Concerta to Adderall XR #s:
72mg = 40mg (two 20mg XR capsules)
54mg = 30mg
45mg = 25mg
36mg = 20mg
27mg = 25mg
18mg = 10mg

I am also in same situation, was on Adderall 10-20/day, but due to side effects of anxiety and insomnia, just started (really an hour ago) Concerta. We'll see but I will check back here and am interested in your results.

Ok so its been about a month and a half now for me on concerta and so far so good. No anxiety issues anymore. The heart rate is also more controlled.
I started on 18mg for a week, then went to 27mg for two weeks and then 36mg for 2 weeks. After taking 36mg for two weeks I didnt renew my prescription and just decided to take the 27mg's I had left over for a while. Its been a week or more now on 27mg again and I feel this is the best for me.
It doesnt give me bad side effects and overall I feel more in control of my concentration issues. I also have noticed that I have an easier time now focusing when I am reading which was a huge issue for me.
So far so good. I think i`ll stick to 27mg.
The reduction in dosage was a decision I took due to side effects being mroe pronounced in 36mg as well as a personal choice to reduce medication and focus more on being healthy mentally, physically and eating properly in order to manage my adhd issues. I am very happy with this decision of mine.
I switched from Adderall XR to Ritalin. I have not tried concerta yet as I like the flexibility to take only what I need during a day with ritalin. I can take up to 30mg/day but rarely exceed 20 mg (often only 10mg a day).
I also had side effects with Adderall but really none to speak of on Ritalin. It seems that I had a lot of things going on when I was on Adderall, some good some bad. Ritalin just seems like a simpler med for me.
Glad concerta is working for you. Its a relief when you find a med/dose that works for you.
