My son had to switch from Focalin XR 40MG a day to Concerta because my stupid new insurance will not pay for the Focalin. He is on the Concerta 54 but It does not seem to be working as well as the Focalin. I think the 54 is not high enough. Is there a conversion that shows what dose he should be using on the Concerta based on what he was using with the Focalin?

As I understand it, focalin is prescribed at half the dosage of regular ritalin. So the concerta equivalent of 40 mg focalin would be seem to be at least 72 mg of Concerta.

Talk to your son's doc. It's not unusual for them to err in making equivalent dosage calculations.
