I get 100x5mg IR tablets for only $19 dollars, crazy!

Most of the time I eat breakfast, wait 30 minutes, take my dosage, and it kicks in after 1.5-2 hours. Although I have to wait longer for to feel the effects if I eat, I think that it lasts a bit longer.

The duration of a dose usually lasts 5-6 hours before I start to feel lethargic again.

Anyway,

on a 10mg dose - I lose my drowsiness, and is able to focus/concentrate while studying better, but I don't have that laser sharp mental clarity that I experienced the first week starting the drug.

on a 15mg dose - I actually feel a physical stimulation that 10mg doesn't provide me, making me a bit speedy in the mind and body. I am able to focus/concentrate on one thing more undirectionally. I talk faster and become more sociable. Disappointingly, however, I don't get that laser sharp mental clarity I had the first week.

Do you think I should increase my dosage until I find that laser sharp mental clarity again? I can still concentrate on 10mg or 15mg, but it is no where comparable to the level of focus I got at first (which I prefer).

What are your experiences?

I've tried Mallin's generics before, to me Barrs feel stronger mg for mg.

I take the 10 mg Dex IR tabs by Barr. My dose is 20 mg, twice a day. For me, it makes me feel alert, focused, and much less prone to distraction. My mind doesn't wander like it does without meds, so I can concentrate on my work, even if it's boring.

How "sharp" I am depends on how much sleep I'm getting. If I'm sleep deprived (as I frequently am, since I have no discipline when it comes to enforcing a bedtime on myself), then no amount of Dex will help with mental clarity. I wouldn't describe myself as laser sharp, but I can definitely tell the difference between me on Dex and me not on Dex.

Just started taking this stuff today, so take my post with a grain of salt...

I've been taking Adderall IR 10mg for the last 2 weeks, with little effect and a lot of side effects, probably from the l-amphetamine. This morning, driving to my psych for a follow-up, I felt really down in the dumps and burnt out from the anxiety and irritability of Adderall, plus all my schoolwork that wasn't getting done. The first thing I noticed after getting my new script filled was the HUGE mood elevation - 10 minutes after starting my first dose of Barr dex (2.5mg), I was positive, relaxed, confident, and thrilled to be alive. I expect some of this feeling to pass over the next few days, but today, I really appreciated the boost.

Other things:
-None of the physical SE that Adderall had (anxiety, paranoia, tachycardia)
-Much more relaxed focus than Adderall; motivation without the sense of extreme urgency

Time will tell how this changes over time, and after a week, I will have a better idea of how it affects my productivity. Insomnia was another issue I had with Adderall, so I'll be interested to see what that does as well. So far so good with Barr Dexedrine. :)

P.S. - Where are you buying yours so cheaply? 60x5mg IR tabs cost me $28 at Giant Pharmacy. Also, weirdly, my insurance covered the cost of Adderall but not this.

60x5mg IR tabs cost me $28 at Giant Pharmacy

That's expensive! With insurance, I got 120 tabs of Dex IR (10 mg tabs) for $10 at Rite Aide. And I know that Rite Aide is very expensive without insurance. The same script cost me $85 there without insurance.

Strange that your insurance pays for Adderall but not Dex. Usually it's the other way around.

Do a Google search for a non-insurance discount prescription card. My state has an arrangement through a national carrier that saves me over 50% on the total cost. The good ones will have a pharmacy look up so that you can price compare.
