Is this a good or bad thing? What I mean by rough is that I'm feeling more depressed than I have since starting 5 weeks ago, but I've heard people mention that pretty soon before it "kicks in," some sort of ups and downs may occur?

What's your experience right before you noticed and could confirm it was working?

Bomborwhack,

I think you are searching too hard for a mood, and feeling. I see this a lot with Adderall disappointment. Give it space and without the anx of am I getting the feeling or not - it should kick-in, without you possibly being aware. Suddenly you'll say - hey, I am not so down or look without a hesitation I've organized my room. There shouldn't be a feel per say with ADHD meds, rather the benefits of orgnization, focus and attention should be the result. If after a month of so the 300 isn't enough, ask your Dr. if you can go to 450, which is the usual dose that on WB alone, ADHD is most effectively treated. If you want to stay w/the 300, perhaps take it with a very small dose of Adderall.

You're probably spot on. I think I'm just experiencing the frustrations of being on ADs for a total of 9 weeks now (Zoloft/Wellb for depression/ADD) without having seen any improvement. In either field. My doctor recently also prescribed me buspar, and I'm entering my second week of that now. I'm praying for SOMETHING to happen to help me. But if this doesn't cut it, I will probably resort back to adderall and lose 100 pounds but at least get things done. The ADs have done almost nothing for my motivation or drive or desire. I'm still pretty much in the dead zone of emotion that I've been in for the past 3 years. To simply "feel" something besides anger and frustration and worthlessness, I don't think that's too much to ask. My work has suffered tremendously, and there have been days when 6 1/2 out of 8 hours are dedicated to not working.

/sob story, and thanks for your reply :)

BW,

Don't get discouraged. To classify buopirion and zoloft as AD's is an error. AD's really don't work for ADHD. But, Bupirion isn't an AD per-say, it is a longlasting and building mild stimulant, that treats depression, ADHD and a host of other mediacl issues. Medical journals, Wikopedia et al all classify as a stimulant, and according to Dr. Jackson (an ADHD Expert) it was just classified as an AD for marketing purposes. Why is it a stmulant, beacuse it stimulates the CNS, and reuptakes dopamine and noradraneline just like the big "C", does, but on a much more mild scale. WB is really much closer to harder stimulants than caffene, but it's full stimulation effect doesn't kick-in until you go to higher doses, which may raise your seizure liklihood. That is why Dr.'s like it, a taste of stimulant that is little abused because the amount that would create euphoria exceeds a practical dose. But, here is the thing, using WB as a base, you can add a small amount of Adderall - and have the desired effect. Why, first if the Adderall is taken first, WB will potentiate the effect and have it last longer, as well as abuse reduce cravings (so Adderall abuse would be less likley). If the small amount of Adderall isn't for you with the WB, ask to have the dose raised to 450mgs - at this level you should see at least some meaningful stimulation. The SSRI's don't do anything for ADHD, as the matter of fact, there is a theroy that due to the raise in seratonin, dopamine might actully be reduced - which is the exact opposite of what your looking to do. So to recap, consider recasting your view of Buporion, then harness the possibilities by 1. seeking a small amount of a stim to enhance the buporion or 2. by increasing the dose to 450mgs. Also, check into SSRI's possibly impacting dopamine. Finally, if you are totaly resistant to bupoirion providing benefit - by all means discuss with your Dr. and if you go back to Adderall 100% you'll be much more expereinced, which would hopefully assist to avert future abuse.

Thanks again, RecruitDir. I am working on not "expecting something" really, and will continue to ride out until 8 weeks. I guess I do notice a slight "boost," but only physically (as in hand tremors, bouncing leg etc). Neither bothers me really, and may only occur if I have a drink with caffeine in it as well. But my mind isn't really noticeably clearer. If things do not shape up by the end of week 8, I think I'll switch back to an ssri and combine it with adderall. In terms of depression, I think I noticed more of an impact with zol rather than wellb, but it also seemed to make me more "flat." *sigh* what would the possible effects be of an increase in seratonin combined with a possible lowering of dopamine?
