In the beginning I was late a lot and I made myself get better, lately had two latenesses cuz my alarm didn't go off- go figure it always happens! I didn't know I was suppose to work one day and then I have a huge list of customer complaints- I know some of them are like me being really slow, misunderstandings of orders and maybe redoing them, and then a few sloppy type things or something not done right- like a piece of food gets on the outside of a container because I'm wearing gloves or some kind of meat isn't cut right.
I don't really care that much because I knew the tension was there and that was a horrible feeling at work. I forgot the reason why I used to hate working at food places and now I remember why.... I did better at retail
I just hate not being appreciated even though I try so hard.....

i work one shift a week (i'm still at school) and erm this morning i normally set my alarm to 5 so i can get to work at 6, alarm went off this morning, i thought i put it on snooze (so it'd go off in 10 minutes) but i turned it off, parents woke me up at 10 to 6.
luckily i have a very good boss who doesn't get angry.
oh and today one of the new apprentice bakers has adhd and he's alot like me.
thinking your pressing the snooze and turning it off- me all the time. I wonder if it's an ADD thing, not watching what you're doing so of course we have the bad luck of pressing the wrong button :D
you've reminded me that I've had good bosses before, so maybe I'll find another set of people who'll be a bit more understanding.

That sucks. I think those are common ADD problems...it's hard, because on the one hand, a lot of that stuff doesn't fly in a workplace, but those are also big challenges to deal with for someone with ADD.
My only advice...don't join the military, lol. I can't even count how many times my husband overslept when he was newly in...how many times he was in trouble all day for it, how many times his NCOs were banging on the door...ugh. He finally bought a second alarm clock. One clock would be set with two alarms near the bed, the other would be set for 5 min after the second alarm and was across the room so he HAD to get up to shut it off. Drove me up the wall to have 3 alarms going off at 5 am, lol, but it worked. At least you're not doing pushups and the like every time you mess up!
Hope you find a better job fit soon!

Today I was able to sleep in. I have been laid off from my very part-time job at a hardware store. There was a cut in hours across the board -- which translated into no hours for me. I found out this Tuesday. No notice, not even an e-mail. I'm not fired -- I just have zero hours assigned to me.
I have never been more than 5 minutes late for this job. It makes little difference in the end.

I know, right retro? That happened to me before when I worked at Ritas Italian Ice. I just came in one day and wasn't on the schedule at all that week and once I asked why I found out.
This is very similar to this last job. A few weeks ago, my schedule went from 3 days a week, to 2 days a week, to 1 day a week twice in a row, to this next week of no days. I noticed the pattern thank god or I would have been very surprised yesterday.
the funny part was, I filled in for someone two days ago as my work called me in. It makes little difference in the end like you said...
hi, no you DON'T deserve to be fired.
my first job was in food and I was fired (ha - back in 1985). I hope you find something you LIKE soon. Don't be discouraged; it's not your fault.
yea i'm not going to make the mistake of doing a job I don't like ever again
