I was recently diagnosed with ADHD (mainly inattentive but also slight hyperactivity). I'm 15 years old. I have tried 18, 27, and 36 mg of Concerta and they helped a little bit as the dose went up, but I was still very distractible. I was put on 54 mg of Concerta a few days ago, and the problem is that throughout my school day, I'm obsessing over whether or not it's working. What I mean is that I really want to be able to focus on things so I get frustrated when the medication doesn't work, and I'm so hopeful that this would work that I payed such close attention to myself and it was distracting me. So basically, I can't tell if it's working because I spend the entire day obsessing over if it's working or not. What should I do? Thanks.

Just stop obsessing! :D

Actually, I know exactly what you are going through. It's kind of natural to be focused on it, especially if you are banking/hoping so much on it helping.

Best advice I can give is give it a week. If it's working well, you'll eventually catch yourself NOT thinking about it. Then you'll know you have just the right dose.

Remember that the drugs aren't magic. You may also need to incorporate a differing diet, changing sleep habits, or changing up your physical activity.

Personally, I find I have much more "focus" in the hours after a strenuous bike ride or run.
