View Full Version : anyone know if adderall is on any "generic program"
johnny s. 05-06-09, 05:27 PM you know those programs that Wal Mart and Kroger have where you can get 30 days of meds for like $10?
does anyone know of a place like that to get a generic adderall IR?
ADHD Hunter 05-06-09, 05:43 PM My wife had looked into Walmart for all of our family's meds, including Adderall - no luck. I know she started doing some meds by mail order, in 90 day packs, but I don't believe she was able to do that with the ADHD meds, which were 30 day limits, NY law.

You might want to try walgreens.
HighFunctioning 05-07-09, 12:06 AM Well, considering that Shire still controls the pricing of Adderall XR generic (because they're still producing it for Teva), it seems doubtful, at least as long as Shire is still controlling the price (which I believe will be for another 5 months or so).
I got mine in a the generic form 2 weeks ago. I paid $5.00 dollars for a 30 day supply
I am taking 2 25mgs of generic adderal. I get my meds at wallgreens and it is 7.50 That may be because of my co-pay though. I used to pay 20 though. Do you think the generic works the same.
I think it works the same
johnny s. 05-07-09, 09:05 AM thanks for the help
even with my insurance, the generic is still $35 a month, and they limit me to 2 pills a day but I was hoping for 3 (I only take 10mg pills)
so, I was hoping that one of those generic programs would include generic adderall, but so far no luck.
walgreens web site didn't exactly say NO, it said to contact them... so I guess that's what I'll do.
thanks again!
ADHDTigger 05-08-09, 11:18 PM Johnny, there is a thread stickied that gives the links to a number of prescription drug cards. While Adderall isn't covered by all of them, it is covered by many. These programs are not insurance but do have the effect of reducing the cost. I get 20 mg tablets of Barr and with the help of a handy pill splitter- around $10 at WalMart- can tailor my doses. Buying 20 mg pills reduces the number of pills I need to buy. My cost for 62 pills went from $60 to $28 by using the card.
My state has partnered with a provider for the card. Your state might too. Google "free prescription card" (without quotes) and add your state to the search string. That should get you what you're looking for.
Don't bother with the Walgreens program. They charge you for it and Adderall is not on the formulary.
LittlePrincess 05-08-09, 11:54 PM Check out the link in my signature. I pay about $17/month for my generic Adderall IR, which is 20mg tabs x 60 per month, when I use this card. I don't have prescription drug coverage so that card has helped me tremendously!
Hope this helps :)
johnny s. 05-09-09, 08:38 AM thank you thank you thank you!
I'll check those things out
that's just the kind of little helpful tricks I was looking for :D
demitriden 05-10-09, 07:48 PM hey little princess, what pharmacy do you go to?
will walgreens or cvs accept that card?

You need to go to the website and see for yourself! You will do a search based on your zipcode and it will list the pharmacies in your area where they accept the card.
Good luck! :)
LittlePrincess 05-11-09, 03:41 AM The CVS in my area accepts this card, so I'm fairly certain they would accept it in your area too :) But, do a search on the website to be sure.
I just want to give you guys a heads up... I had my generic Adderall, 10 MG tabs 60 quantity filled by Walmart last month, thinking it was still under the $4 plan..
Nope.. It ended up costing me $59 and change!!! That was the Barr generic.
I found a locally owned pharmacy- $37 for 90 10 MG generic Adderall tabs (Cor)!!
I won't be purchasing these meds from Walmart anymore, that's for sure.
