Hello everyone,

This is my first post in this forum. I am a thirty year old male who is pretty positive that I have ADD - Innattentive type. I have been dreading seeking help, but my life is an absolute mess and I need it. I have been looking everywhere I can possibly think of to find a doc who specializes in ADD but I can't find one and I am sooooooooooooooooo frustrated. Anyone know of a good psychiatrist in the Indianapolis area? Thank you.

I don't know anyone specifically. Unfortunately, I think most ADHD specialists focus on children. Adult ADHD has only recently started to gain wider recognition. I tried to find some leads for you online, but the referral sites I'm familiar with don't have anyone in the area. One thing I did come across is a Children's Hospital with an ADHD program:

I'd suggest calling them, explaining your situation, and asking what they suggest. It may be that some of the doctors there have private practices where they see adults, or have colleagues who do.

Otherwise, you may have to just call local psychiatrist's offices and asking if they have experience with adult ADHD. Good luck. I hope you find someone.

Does your county operate a Counseling Center? They may be able to help, or offer a refferal.

I go through a County operated Counseling Center (not my county, but a rural county that is ajasent, because my county was too full to see "cash" patients

There I have a counselor, and they have an ADD specialist that visits once every two weeks!

I am a cash patient, and save 40-60% over a private practice.

Did you see the thread above that says "reference for local doctors"? There seem to be a couple of health care professionals that specialize in adhd in the Indianapolis/Carmel area. It doesn't have to be a psychiatrist who diagnoses you. I'd call those listed and see what they suggest.

I've tried google with no luck. Out of the two or so Doc reccomendations I've seen on here aren't covered through my insurance. I dread calling psychiatrist and asking if they have experience in the field. Oh well.
