I'm now prescribed Concerta 18mg and have been prescribed Ritalin LA(20mg) before. I've taken 2 of it at once in the morning before and maybe felt a bit of anxiety, but it wore off in the afternoon. I feel that Concerta is not really working. The Ritalin LA I've been rxed before felt like a bit of help, but not much. I"m the inattentive type, maybe the methylphenidate family doesn't really help me?

I wonder how Wellbutrin compares to Concerta? I've read that it is amphetamine-lite(it technically works differently but maybe this description is saying that it feels like a lighter version of amphetamine). If so, maybe I should ask to switch to Wellbutrin. Wellbutrin is a DNRI and I've read a study that both(it & Concerta) were effective in treating ADD but what about for inattentives? Have anyone tried both?

Adderall & Dexedrine isn't available where I live, my other options are Strattera and Wellbutrin. Since Strattera is a norephinedrine inhibitor only and I've had Effexor before and Effexor is a serotonin and norephinedrine inhibitor & I didn't feel much from that, I feel that maybe I should try my luck on Wellbutrin.

Thanks.

I was presribed Welbutrin SR to help me stop smoking a few years ago and as I am pretty well balanced and haven't ever been diagnosed with anything other than passive aggressive Personality disorder. But I do know that Wellbutrin just put me in the greatest mood.. Not euphoric, just pleasantly happy.. the "sure is a pretty day!" mood and made it very very very easy to put down the smokes.. Unfortunatly picked em up again just over a year later , but that is for another forum.

I did get insomnia and cottonmouth, though. That was okay cause insomnia gave me more time to YahooChat and we all need to drink more fluids ;)

I gather it inhibts seritonin, dopamine AND norephrinphrine reuptake with more emphasis on the dopamine.

And 'though my memory isn't best today' isn't the current ADHD theory have to do with insuffeceint (sp) dopamine levels in paarticular frontal regions of the brain?

Those are tiny doses of concerta (and Ritalin LA). Ask the doctor about going up in dose until you are in control. You have a long way to go with either choice. With Concerta I wouldn't give up until you at least hit the 72mg dose. Ritalin LA only goes up to 40mg but I wouldn't give up on that option until at least taking 60mg (30mgx2).

Wellbutrin is weak (very weak) compared to any stimulant.

quick question , if you have been on concerta for a prolonged period and startup on adderall what will your attention be like compared to concerta the first few days? I know that adderall works but when I start it doesnt feel like it helps me when switching right from mph
