For those of you who take magnesium supplements to help with tolerance, when do you usually take them? And how much do you usually take? Have you really noticed a difference in how the Adderall effects you?

View Full Version : magnesium for tolerance cecily_parish 05-12-09, 09:33 AM For those of you who take magnesium supplements to help with tolerance, when do you usually take them? And how much do you usually take? Have you really noticed a difference in how the Adderall effects you? lilhotADDmama 05-13-09, 11:41 AM I take mine at night before bed. You don't want to take it the same time or too close to your Adderall, it can cause major problems- so I read and have been told. As for effect- I don't know if it helps or not, I haven't had a tolerance problem and have been on 10mg 2x a day for 8 or 9 years. But people have reported great results. I actually take mine for under active thyroid, along with other supplements. If you do a quick search on magnesium you will find a ton of post about it. Also google. CDRacingZX6R 05-13-09, 02:34 PM Can someone repost the name or brand of that one Cheletated Magnesium, that had something like 80 percent biovidity? I got one chelated and it's the crappy oxide. And as everyone has said, they make good laxatives, but doesn't do much of anything else. hahah Featherhead 05-14-09, 04:08 AM I've personally noticed that taking any vitamins, including magnesium, tends to suddenly increase the effects of the stimulant, including the negative ones (increased heart rate, flushing, skin probelms). With this in mind, it may not be the best idea to take them in the evening. aesculanus 05-14-09, 10:03 AM magnesium preventing adderall tolerance is a load of crap. it's no more effective than placebo. the whole parade of supplement fiends is a strong indicator, if unencouraging, of just how quickly tolerance builds to amphetamine. it's insanely fast. my wife, a physcian, says no other drug even comes close. she's never seen or heard of anything like it. the next in line would be opiates or benzos, and those take about month at typically prescribed doses. Adderall's what? - about 4-5 days? (technically it starts within minutes!) but whereas tolerance to opiates really can be - and has been shown - to be mitigated by various treatments, halting or reversing amphetamine tolerance is a pipe dream. the only thing PROVEN effective is time. LOTS of time. sorry, but that's just reality on this one. doesn't do much to deter a lot of people from taking more supplements than stallone getting jacked for rocky balboa though. bobC 05-14-09, 02:15 PM There seems to be some evidence that NDMA antagonists like magnesium can prevent amphetamine tolerance. However tolerance is very slow to develop (perhaps years) at theraputic dosages for adhd. BobC hermitpermit 05-15-09, 11:28 PM I took it with the adderall, and without it(at night) and i took the ****ty kind of calmag, with chelated iron. it has magnesium oxide and magnesium citrate. And it prolonged l-amphetamine. For about 6 days. 6 days of adderall. I got sick. Be wary. |
