Okay, now I'm worried and maybe I shouldnt be. I've read thought the first three pages of topics and it seems to me that more people than not have some kind of problem with this concerta drug. I was just prescribe for my add issues as an adult but out of my desire to focus and remember I don't know if I have the time to sit here and take drug after drug. Should I just request another pill now or wait. I'm finding that at this moment mentally I'm good, nice and focused but I'm worried that this effect wont last or will quickly fade. What should I do?

Don't sweat the experiences you are reading about. People experiencing problems are more likely to post than those saying "taking Concerta and all is well here". Take a reasonable time (as determined by your doctor) to see if it's a good fit for you. If not, try one of the others, again at the doctor's direction.

I have taken Concerta and will be resuming Memorial Day weekend. I was very pleased with the results and never had any negative side effects. My 9 year old daughter is currently using Concerta and it has worked well for her too.

Good luck and be patient.

Thank you for your positive reply, it makes me hopeful and sadly your right, no one will post positive, beside yours. I've only seen one other. I hope this works for me.

My mother uses concerta and it's the best thing that ever happened to her. THE ALL TIME BEST.

In the drug posts, mostly what you'll see is some really nervous first timers or bad experiences. When all is well nothing to see.. move along... hahah

Hi Jmaurice85,

I don't think people have more bad experiences than good experiences on Concerta. It's just that it's probably human nature to only whinge about the negatives? I am new to Concerta and have been complaining about my change in outward personality (boring etc) but I also did mention the positive things it has on me.

Being a very impatient person, I don't like waits. But after being on Concerta a week now and increasing my dose, I believe what a lot of members say here are right. It needs titration and timed suited to your body's needs.

Do keep us posted. :)

Well I'm going to stick with this and see, I have to go back to the doctors in a month. However what I was wondering if a lot people take ritilan for an extra boost, is this something I should consider? If this pill wears off like everyone claims it does then I'll need either a higher dosage or an additional pill. I have school, college that requires late nights sometimes.??

I was told to take Ritalin for an extra boost, tried it before taking Concerta, early in the day and after Concerta, in the evening. Somehow I was still getting rebound from it. Very strange.

So my psychiatrist just increased my Concerta to 36mg. I work 12 hour days and have to come home to complete university assignments so I need a lot of coverage too, and the worst thing I don't want is to crash at night when I need to study. Concerta doesn't affect my sleep, and sometimes I take a Ritalin tablet to fall asleep, so I guess it doesn't really matter how late I take Concerta.

Perhaps if you know you will be having a late class you could take your Concerta later in the day? Concerta metabolises at different rates for different people. For me Concerta lasts 7, 8 hours tops. So I have started staggering my dosage. One in the morning and one 3 hours later in the late morning. So I get coverage till about 7pm.

Well my dosage is 27mg, how much coverage do you think I would get from that? I see a lot of people that jump around in dosages but 27 is not one I see often in the forum. Just from what I've see so far anyway?

Yeah, 27mg is not a popular dose, but it is available... I think it's just convenient y'know like the multiples or something 18mg... 36mg... 54mg... but 27mg is available for clients who need in between strengths and also some people who need to take a combination of 2 strengths, like 54 + 27mg etc.

Wouldn't be able to tell you what coverage you would get as it really varies from person to person. You'd have to experiment for yourself, and even then it could vary from day to day as it is metabolised at different rates (for me it does anyway).

So it's possible that my dosage may work for me for the time I need it based on how my body metabolizes it? I just don't want that time where I'm back to what I've been use to all my life. The first I took the pill and noticed a big difference and I feel in love with the way I felt. I hope I don't sound like a junkie lol I just know I was so much more productive while it was in my system.

Hi Jmaurice85,
I have tried various doses of Strattera and now am on Concerta, 10 days of 18mg. i know what you mean by that first day. wouldnt that be great if we had that steadily? but i am beginning to think and read that we just need more patience and ride out the side effects (i've had some annoying ones, but still get thru my day). some days i am WORSE than i was without medication. but i am listening to what others here say and will stick it out and try other dosages to hopefully get that "first day" feeling more often than not.

like yesterday, at work, i felt horribly "hungover" and spacey and unmotivated and achy. i was like DAMMIT why is this stuff not working!!!! but then, i asked 2 other coworkers and 4 clients (hairdresser) and they all felt weird. seems the weather was bringing on allergy/sinus/pressure issues. so i guess it's just going to be that way but hopefully more great days than blah ones.

keep us posted and hang in there, i'm trying to!

Well I've been taking the pill now for three days and so far everyday I've been on it I've never felt so much alive. So far no complaints, the only thing I notice is when I take it at 6, I start feeling tired around 3 but then I eat and I'm okay and still focused so I don't know.
