I was diagnosed with ADD a few months back. I started with Concerta which helped with my agitation and stopped some of my impulses but did nothing for concentration. So after getting my dose changed a few times my doc put me on Adderall XR 20mg. I got it from Walmart last night. They offered me the generic and i asked if there was any difference and they said it was the same so i got the generic. Now im reading through the Adderall threads and it seems like i may have made a big mistake in getting the generic.

Has anyone had a good experience with the generic Adderall?

I've been taking the brand name Adderall XR, and today I'm picking up the generic. I was thinking everything I'd read here about it was negative. In rereading what people have said I saw that there have been positive experiences here as well. I'm going to try to take it with the attitude that it's going to work just fine. Seems that some folks find no difference at all.

I'm hoping so. I'm not trying to be negative or skeptical just cautious. I did the same thing when I started Concerta.

meh the difference between generic and brand name Adderall XR seems marginal. The generic is made by shire but distributed by Teva (I believe) who owns Barr. They look identical (same color cap/beads/size/shape) except instead of "Adderall XR" it says "Mixed Amph. Salts" or something close to that. I hear FDA is going to make it so they have to look different though, but as for now they seem pretty similar. I think the problem is that one person may not have a great day on the generic (I hear bioavailibity can be anywhere from 25-75% orally) and then spread this kinda "it sucks, doesn't work" attitude that the rest of us placebo off of. I really don't know.
