so ive read many threads on this mix and havent been able to come to any conclusion as to whether or not the wellbutrin affects the adderall...my doctor said they would work together positively....but were getting different responses on here...any final conclusions????

someone said that WB is a dopamine blocker???? which doesnt make sense to me if it is a strong DA reuptake inhibitor????

i need my adderall to work to the best of its ability...i dont want anything to hinder the medication that helps my condition the most...as you would know.

Pro's:

Seems to boost my adderall, by inhibiting dopamine reuptake when I take it after the Adderall has released.

Seems to smooth the peaks and valleys and crash that I had just on Adderall.

I am hardly ever tired.

It's somehow boosted my confidence and elimated all social anxiety.

My mood has improved - I am less irritable at night.

My senses have been heightened (hearing, smelling)

Con's:

I sometimes feel too stimulated and whereas the Amp would wearoff quickly if I drank OJ, the 24/7'ness of WB in the mix eliminates the off-switch.

Miss the Adderall jolt for the smooth coverage, it's a trade-off.

I get insomnia periodically, and find I have dry mouth more often with the Addy/WB mix.

Because I am taking now two stimulants - I find I am clenching my jaw more, and my appetite is non-existant.

Lately, I've been also smelling smoke where there is none, but I have really bad sinus problems.

All in all the pro's outweigh the con's for me.

hmmmm...so would you reccomend i take my 20mg xr like an hour or two b4 the wellbutrin sr?

i also take another 15mg IR 6-8 hrs later

I would take the adderall prior to dosing the wellbutrin. You can think of wellbutrin as slowing the reuptake of what the stimulant is doing so whenever during the day ( around 2pm) you think you still have good blood levels of amp but may be on the slide would be a good time to dose the wellbutrin. This way it will prolong the effect or "boost" the amp.

prior to sleeping that is exactly the idea i came up with...but you just confirmed it...HAAAAAA awesomenes...you get a major cool point. so yea like ill just take my xr in the morning and then the IR with the wellbutrin at 2. by the way 2pm is when i take my last IR dose...we must have a psychic bond or something. wait...maybe i should say im kidding on a mental health forum :)

Good luck. Wellbutrin takes time to develop consistent levels in your blood so don't sit back and overthink it if you don't feel it boosting your amp right away. It could very well take 4-6 weeks just for your body to get used to the wellbutrin. Generally the positive results will come in a month or two so hang in there for about 8 weeks and then you should feel the wellbutrin boosting your amp.
