Well, I've been taking Budeprion XL 150mg for 25 days now and it has worked wonders for me.
depression - gone
anxiety - gone
focus - better
hyperfocus - can drive it instead of being driven by it
the fog has cleared
inattention still there but manageable
Unfortunately, I started itching on my palms and the bottoms of my feet last night. I suspected an allergic reaction to the medication as I'm not on any other meds and I haven't eaten anything unusual. I did some research and I found out that this is not an uncommon problem noted with the Teva manufactured generic. This morning, I did not take my usual dose and I called the doctor to find out what I should do. The Wellbutrin XL is twice as expensive ($240/month as opposed to $120/month) but I don't think I can continue with Budeprion. I would even be open to taking the SR even if I had to take it a couple of times a day if the doc thinks that might work as that is much less expensive.
In any case, I will update on what transpires. In the meantime, it struck me that there are a number of problems noted with Wellbutrin generics, most specifically with the XL variation from Teva. In reading a lot of the intitial reactions to Wellbutrin here on this forum (tiredness, trouble sleeping, anxiety and depression worsening and not getting better), I found that a number of people experienced these symptoms on the Teva generic after switching from the brand-name! In other words, if you are having an awful time on the Budeprion, don't give up on WB until you try the real thing. Here is the thread I found discussing this: http://www.peoplespharmacy.com/archives/pharmacy_qa/side_effects_of_generic_wellbutrin.php?page=6. The problems are so widespread and pronounced that there really should be an investigation by the FDA (although how likely is that, anyway?).
