1) Is anyone on higher than 72?
2) I'm on 72 mg and it only works for four hours until I want to go to bed slash kill myself from my headache and nausea. Should I try two 54s daily at different intervals?
3) Do higher dosages work better or cause more side effects?
4) Anyone know how to combat these effects?
Thanks!
(1) I'm on 36mg Concerta. It lasts 7-8 hours and I feel real yuck afterwards. Not as bad as Ritalin though.
(2) When you say it "lasts" 4 hours, before you feel nausea and headache, do you mean that you only feel the benefits for 4 hours then you start getting headaches, or do you mean it works for 4 hours, then you feel ill, but you still get benefits?
It's strange that Concerta is lasting only 4 hours, because if Concerta is only lasting 4 hours for you, then how long would Ritalin IR last? Concerta is supposed to last 12 hours, but usually between 6-12 hours for most people.
(3) Doses than 72mg are rare, and "off-label". 72mg is quite a high dosage, and not many doctors will want to go higher as it is unlikely to be beneficial. Higher doses can cause more side effects. However, having said that I was getting some 'side effects' that were apparently indicative that I needed a high dose (36mg). They might consider swapping or augmenting Concerta with other medications.
(4) If you mean the headache and nausea, it should go away after a few days. The side effects can be combated or minimised by eating proper meals, drinking lots of fluid and exercising. Most of the side effects will go away, and if they don't you might need to discuss other options with your doctor.
Best of luck! :)
