I have been on it for only 5 days but I have noticed NOTHING except to feel a little jittyery in my belly. I have been able to sleep and eat on it- that's a PLUS-- can someone tell me the differences between addreal and concerta?

Also should I call my Dr yet--- It does seem to make me kinda of tired

How much are you taking? Maybe you need more. Adderall works much differently, so maybe another form of it would be better if that worked for you before? Are able to do everything properly. Maybe it's working and you just don't feel it?

I have been taking Concerta for a bout 5 days or so, also. I take 36mg, and also take 100mg Wellbutrin twice a day.

I felt really jittery the first day, and couldn't hardly eat the first two days on it. I am able to eat a little better now, but not alot until it starts to wear off.

Other than that, I can't tell much of a difference. I was just diagnosed a couple weeks ago though, and this is the first meds I have taken for ADD. I know Wellbutrin is used for it sometimes also, but I can't say that I can tell a difference since I have been taking it eaither.

I'm just saying I feel the same as you, but I am seeing my psychologist on Thursday, so I am going to ask her about it.

Most ADD meds will make you feel jittery thats what all stimulants will do. Most if not all side effects go away with time as your body adjusts. If you can focus, your memory is better, and life in general is better, than it's working fine. The wellbutrin and concerta maybe balancing each other out well too making you feel the same. The difference between Ritalin(Ritalin, Concerta, Focalin) and Amphetamine(Adderall, Vyvanse) is that Ritalin mostly works on the neurotransmitter Dopamine. It's really a Dopamine reuptake inhibitor but also helps stimulate a little extra to be used. Adderall and all of it's forms stimulate Dopamine and Norepinephrine 2 potent neurotransmitters plus reuptake inhibitor for both. Norepinephrine is a potent vasoconstrictor which basically means it keeps your blood vessels tight and narrow. This can cause high blood pressure in some people, depending on how you react to it. Vyvanse really increased mine. Everyone is different there are a lot of people out there on Adderall and Vyvanse with no issues. Then you have Focalin and Vyvanse which are supposed to be cleaner drugs in that they only use the molecules that are related to the positive effects of the medication. Not everyone responds well to them. Some people who switched from Adderall to Vyvanse did not do as well. For whatever reason the molecule that is supposedly not needed does benefit them.

It's a royal pain trying to find what works and how much to take. Balancing it with an antidepressant complicates it that much more since ADD and depression almost go hand in hand. Best of luck to you.

I was just prescribed Concerta 18mg/day 2 days ago and I have found that I just felt more awake than anything. I also feel incredibly hungry throughout the day and I am eating 3-5 times a day with larger-ish meals. I think I will try two 18mg/day in the morning to see if that does anything.

I go back to the doctor in 2 weeks and I think im going to ask him about considering adderall as an alternative as I have tried that (unfortunately) for exams and it was like someone turned on a switch! I have been diagnosed with the innattentive ADD about a month ago as I was flunking out of university and found I couldnt concentrate, etc. Unfortunately I am still making careless errors, etc and dont seem to remember things like usual.

Also, to add to that I feel like a zombie and I am irritable and feel withdrawn from everything. WHile I do experience the ability to listen a little better to what people are saying, the concerta leaves me feeling as though I dont really care!

I am wondering if I should make an appointment asap to talk about switching to something like Adderall as I feel as though I cant be on this any longer.. I am just plain miserable..

I seen my psychologist yesterday. She is going to get in touch with my doc, and suggest either a different dose of Concerta, or a switch to Adderrall.
I couldn't really say that they helped in concentration any, so I am going to play a brain quiz game, on and off of the Concerta, and see if I scored higher when on the Concerta. We will see.
