If not what is the differences?

View Full Version : Is Dexedrine the same as Adderal? akiss4u 04-26-04, 03:51 PM If not what is the differences? Gregster 04-26-04, 07:08 PM Dexedrine (dexroamphetamine sulphate) is one component of Adderall, which consisits of equal amounts of four ampetamine salts - Dextroamphetamine Saccharate, Amphetamine Aspartate, Dextroamphetamine Sulfate, and Amphetamine Sulfate. The idea behind using these four together is that they are metabolized at different rates so they smooth out the ups and downs you get with only the dextroamphetamine alone. I haven't tried it, so I can't tell you first hand, but judging by the popularity of Adderall, I guess it works! The side effects profiles will be about the same. In reality, I'd expect the difference between the two drugs effectiveness would be fairly subtle in most people. akiss4u 04-26-04, 08:20 PM Thanks for the information I found it very informative. Jetta 06-26-04, 09:58 AM As far as how they make you feel, I can only speak from my own experiance. I feel much less speedy on adderall than I did on dexedrine. It seems dexedrine was effective on some of my symptoms, but not others, and the same is true of adderall for me (although different symptoms are effected by each med). Maybe I feel less speedy because the different amphetamine salts act at different times, instead of everything all at once as with dexedrine? I don't know, just wanted to share my first hand experiance. But yeah, so not only are the two drugs different, but they can effect you differently. Gregster 06-26-04, 04:13 PM Adderall, mg for mg, is slightly "weaker" than just plain dexedrine. This is because the dextroamphetamine is the most potent of the 4 in the combination. I'm not sure how much this difference would be or how noticable it would be. If you are taking the same amount of Adderall as dexedrine, this could be part of the reason you feel less "speedy". Also the smoothness of the Adderall - slower to start to work, and slower to wear off - would feel less speedy too? |
