Just curious to see if any of you have tried Concerta and Focalin, and which one you think helped more (although they are very similiar).

Similar medication but differences in the delivery mode.

Focalin XR will kick in much faster and stronger (FDA approved for results in 30 minutes) but not last as long (typically 6-8 hours).

Concerta gives a tiny up-front dose but is designed to give a longer and stronger duration of effect as the day goes on (10-12 hours).

they both work, but concerta is smoother and last much longer in duration and gives longer and better duration of effect.

They were both equally effective for me but the Concerta made me more irritable while the Focalin had the same effective but without the irritability.

that is probably true for me as well. Concerta and focalin work pretty equally but I do get irritable on the concerta, yet I don't really pay too much attention to irritability .

Thats interesting, Yeah im allready pretty irritable on concerta (restless legs, existing anxiety). Focalin seems like a better bet, does it give you the same level or energy as concerta tho? or is it more mild

Yes I've tried them both , the duration of effect as the day progresses is better for coverage regarding concerta. Focalin's onset is quicker but it has larger dips and doesn't last nearly as long. both are good meds though, I would assume that if the dose was calculated correctly focalin would be better.

I've tried both and they are equally effective. But as Hollywood pointed out, the Focalin doesn't last as long as the Concerta so you'll have to take multiple doses. That can actually be a good thing though, because you have more control and flexibility with your medication if you take multiple doses in a day. Plus, Focalin is available as a generic whereas Concerta is NOT. So with Focalin you'll have more control and you'll save more money. :D
