Hi guys,

two questions for you:

1) What do you think about 90mg of concerta everyday for 2 years? Would my heart sustain this? I got a new job coming up and its VERY demanding (especially on the mental level)... I'd love to hear your thoughts.

2) I'm starting to feel that the only reason my life went on course the past year is because I was thrilled and motivated about finding out I got ADHD. Now, that a year has passed, it seems the thrill and motivation are gone. What I thought was the effects of the cock drug - is probably now (in a retrospective look) just the HIGH sensation people get from these amphetamins...

What do you think? heres how it goes:

A. I definately feel "calmer" and less hyper. I dont throw my limbs around. I can sit like a statue for hours.

B. I can't read. I can't memorize. Its the same as if I dont take drugs. I just can't seem to read and stay focused. I always seem to find something else to do, to stare, to check, to sniff (joking). I just can't stay focused on texts! 54 - 72 and even 90mg of concerta. (the same goes to 10-20 and 25 mg of ritalin).

Ideas? Love to hear them!

hi,

i don't take concerta--this just showed up in my 'new posts' section, but i do take ritalin, so here are my thoughts anyway:

1. you should check with your doctor to see if s/he thinks that's an ok dosage for your heart. i don't have heart problems myself and have taken a higher amount of instant release daily for years and years.

2. not being able to concentrate enough to read is an indicator, in my opinion, that you need a different medication at the very least. sitting still isn't enough, or it wouldn't be enough for me. have you shared this with your doctor?

3. probably should have asked this first, but who's determining your dosage? are you increasing to 90, or is your doctor suggesting it?

4. when you give the ritalin amounts that don't enable you to focus on texts (10-20 and 25) are you talking about instant release? in my, of course, non-medical opinion, if 25 mg of instant release isn't enabling you to have better concentration, then ritalin is not the medication for you.

best,

-peri

You could try Vyvance. It uses a somewhat stronger stimulant so you could probably use a lower dose. Maybe starting at 30 or 50 mg Vyvance? Ask your doctor.

Maybe you just don't like reading!

I sure don't!.... thats why I don't read! :D

Stick to what you like doing.... and stop trying to do things that you wont like. :)
