I posted this over on the Dexedrine section, thought I mind get some more responses by posting here as well.

Anyone here taking both Dexedrine and Strattera together?

If so, what are your dosages and what side effects did you first experience?

I was taking Dexedrine, 5 mg 2x per day. Then 5 mg 3x per day. Now I'm taking 10 mg 3x per day and 25 mg of Strattera in the morning. The only bad side effect that I'm seeing is high blood pressure. I've been on the combo for a week now, and things are going really well, except for the blood pressure. I know things can settle down after a little while and I will give it a chance. I'm just curious if anyone else has had this issue.

Thanks

25 mg for Strattera? Are you just starting out? That dose seems really low; I started on Strattera last month, and my doctor had me titrate up from 25 to 40 to 60 to 80, which is my current dose.

At my current dose of Strat, I've added small amounts of Dex and Adderall, to see what the effects would be. I'm fairly sensetive to the stuff, so I'm working with low doses. They're both generic IR versions.

Dexedrine (Barr) - 2.5 mg - Before I started on Strat, I was taking this occasionally. It helped me concentrate, but only to a point, and I didn't tolerate higher doses than 5 mg. I preferred it to Adderall because it didn't affect my PNS (heart rate, blood pressure, etc.) as much. Taking it with Strattera, I saw little to no effect

Adderall (Corepharma) - 2.5 mg - This was the first ADHD drug I was ever prescribed, and like the Dexedrine, I never used a lot of it, so I still have a pretty full bottle of the stuff. I quit it because it affected my PNS too much, and it didn't help me concentrate. At a dose of 5 mg, I was just too ancy. Great for housework, but lousy for studying. Taken with Strattera though (at 2.5 mg), it's exactly what I've been looking for.

Strattera is working wonders right now, and I can finally concentrate. The only problem remaining is my motivation, which is sometimes lacking. I can finally focus on a book now, but I can also focus on TV or the internet. Just as always, I can drift really easily into unproductive activities. Adderall, being more of a physical stimulant, gives me that kick in the rear that I need on occasion. IMO, it's a good complement to Strattera.

With the Strattera, yes I am just starting, going on 2 weeks now. I don't know if he will increase it or not. The Dexedrine is working good, cleared the fog and got me motivated. My only issue there is the inpulsivity issues, especially at work. My doctor wants to ease into the Strattera slowly. This is primarily at my urging, I've read some real horror stories about side effects of Strattera.

My biggest issue has been the blood pressure issue. It's gone up 10-20 points since starting the combo. Hopefully it is only a temporary issue.

I don't want to drop the Dexedrine and go to only the Strattera, because of that lack of motivation issue. I have been very productive on the dex, I just have to get a grip on my impulsiveness and step back and analyze things before acting. So far the Strattera has helped with this.
