My cousin was diagnosed with ADHD and depression..several other family members of mine have it too. She was put on a variety of stimulants, but felt nothing on them. I myself had the same exact problem and told her to ask for Adderall.

She has been on Adderall IR for a few months and she told me it has helped with her depression. Not due to the euphoric effect, because that has worn off by now. It also helps her stay motivated and complete tasks. I was told that it doesn't help with with concentration or daydreaming. The only times she is focused is when she's online or writing something. However, watching movies, reading, doing things that are boring to her...no change.

I'm not sure what to tell her. Adderall has helped me with a lot, including my concentration. I know it certainly doesn't help with everything nor should anyone expect it to. She has been on several stimulants and none have helped with her concentration. I was going to tell her that maybe she doesn't have ADHD but I'm not sure if thats accurate. Does a situation like hers mean she doesn't have ADHD?

Stimulants effect everybody the same whether they be ADD/ADHD or not. I have ADHD and I get the same side effects i.e. Euphoria intense concentration musical appreaciation etc... That other people that don't have ADHD get. Amphetamines act as a dopamine agonist which means it preduces much more than normal. Also it is a norepinephrine agonist and it also works with serotonin indirectly. Basically saying no matter who you are you are most likely going to get the "High" from Adderall. Anyways your question about stimulants not working for non-ADHD/ADD'ers is a myth. If they don't effect your cousin it is most likely due to a high tolerance or her brain doesn't recognize the chemicals which is very rare, most likely high tolerance.

it is possible that her condition is related to a health condition such as hypothyroid and or hypoglycemia and would respond to a change in habits such as proper diet and exercise and nutritional supplementation its not just adhd sometimes there are underlying problems..
