hey there

been on Concerta 54mg a day for three months

it works like a DREAM for my brain and my productivity is excellent. I dont get paranoid on it either and am much more balanced.

my appetitie on it is shot to pieces too, but i've done another thread on that.

My concern is just over the past few weeks, sometimes my heart rate seems to go up when i am on this med, and pound really rapidly. Also occasional shortness of breath. Off meds my body runs perfectly normal, and i was checked for heart rate etc before going on this med.

i think i might be imagining the pace of the heartrate but it does genuinely seem too high, yet the 54mg dose i really need for my mind. 36mg isnt enough, altho maybe i should try a smaller dose next week

is the increased heart rate a normal side affect for others? please tell me, obviously i will tell my doctor when i speak with her

thanks x

It can increase your heart rate. The side-effect may be harmless. Ask your doctor.

Thanks. If anyone else has experienced an increased heart rate on Concerta please post here.

I did tell my psychiatrist. She said not to worry too much.

interestingly, i stopped smoking and the pounding heartbeat has stopped! and i am back up to my prescribed dose of 54mg a day :)
