Does anyone know of anything out in the world that you can lock your meds in but can still fit the item in your (large sized) purse? I have an uneasy feeling about having my meds loose in my purse, especially since I live in the meth crazed part of my meth crazed state? (Missouri, lol)

I'm looking for just a small box that I can lock (don't care how), but is functional (to a certain extent) of keeping people out of it?

Thanx for any help you guys can provide for me.

can you take just the meds you need with you each day so it won't be as tempting and if they do get 'lost' it won't be everything?

if it is small and isn't attached to you or to something very heavy I don't see why they wouldn't just take the whole thing and figure out how to smash it open later you know?

there are purses that have semi-"secret" compartments. maybe something like that could help? and always taking them in private when you are out so people don't know you have meds.

I'm not sure what you mean by "lock." Something that's child-proof?

My husband and I have a tiny screw-closed cannister that attaches to our keychains. It's small, but big enough to contain a few Advil. It's metal but light. Sorry, he bought it years ago and I don't know where.

That is true.... unfortunately.

I'm starting to think about getting what Gina was talking about, but isn't it illegal to keep your stims in something other than its original bottle? Not that the cops would ever search me or anything, but that would be the one time I would be searched going into some place, LOL.

i agree with the poster above saying that you could just take what you need for the day and i think you could get around the 'not original bottle' by keeping an empty bottle and using that one, perhaps??

i saw another member posting about his adderall possibly being lifted. here's the other thread as it also contains at least a dozen other suggestions and some insight on legal issues:

http://www.addforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71144

in case i messed that up, it's under medications/adderall/ and is entitled something like 'lesson learned; keeping meds locked up'--or, that's what i interpreted as the central theme:)

While at the pharmacy today, I noticed a keyring thing just like Gina mentioned. It looks like it unscrews so you can put pills in it. It appears to be kinda small. I'm thinking it was intended for something like those little nitroglycerin pills.

It's not much bigger than a .22 bullet, but I don't know why they couldn't produce a little big bigger version. It was $12US.

OH! I just Googled "keychain medication holder" and there's lots out there. There are several on Amazon and the key words seemed to be "pill container". There's a bunch of sizes and styles.

However, none of them appear to be lockable, so they don't address Jessica's original need.

Thanx peri! I think what I will do is what someone else on there explained: Keep a few with me, but have a copy of the label. I work as a pharmacy tech, so I really should know all of the legalities, but alas, I don't, LOL. But I don't think that would be a problem. If anybody knows that it is, let me know.

Thanx!

Wal-mart has the screw top metal keyring containers with an o-ring seal. I put a small pill bottle dessicant capsule in there and aspirin, vyvanse and Wellbutrin in it. Screws secure enough to keep small kids out of it.
Enjoy, Ken

Thank you penguin! I checked two Walgreens stores yesterday for one of those and didn't find one to my taste (they weren't metal, and plastic isn't sturdy enough for me). So I will check walmart today and see what I can find.

Thank you guys for your help!

That's a really good question about the legality of it.

I know that it's advised not to travel internationally without the prescriptions as proof that the medication is legally possessed. Some people just print them out and keep them with their passport, etc.

As for potential legal problems domestically, I bet your pharmacist would know that. It probably varies by state when it comes to schedule II medications.

Good to know about those sources of keychain medication holders. Thanks folks!

I ordered this from amazon.com last night:

http://www.amazon.com/Aluminum-Anodized-CONTAINER-HOLDER-GEOCACHING/dp/B000P91E4C/ref=pd_sim_hpc_3

It has free shipping and they shipped today!! So fast!! LOL.

They also have a little bottle inside of them to protect the pills, hopefully to keep them from breaking too.....

Jessica, They sell those metal pill container-keychains in several different sizes, I have used them for years. I even have a camoflague one.

To keep your container legal is very simple. My pharmacist gives me an extra sticker, an exact copy of the one on the original pill bottle with every Rx I get filled. I just put the sticker on my pill container-keychain and then it is perfectly legal. If your pharmacist does not give you extra stickers, I am sure if you asked him or her for one they would be more than happy to oblige.

Thank you Maurice! I work at the pharmacy I fill my Rx's at, so I can just print my own label. My coworkers all know and understand what I'm going through so they have no problem with it.

Does anyone know if it is ok just to keep the label in my wallet so I don't have to put the label on my little container? Or can someone direct me to somewhere I can find this out?

I use a key-chain like the ones below that I found on eBay. I find its really handy because I spread out my later doses during the day and its good to have them on me without carrying the bottle around. The one below has enough room to store 3 generic 5mg dexamphetamine and a long vitamin-style capsule of tyrosine which I also use. I've seen them on eBay for about $10 (USD) or less.

I can't imagine having any legal problems as its legitimately prescribed and it would take a drug sniffer dog to even notice it.

I was arrested and charged with "Possession of Dangerous Drugs" while on a trip out of state because I simply didn't know and took just amount of meds I needed for the trip and put them all in one RX bottle....they weren't even controlled substances, one was Soma (muscle relaxer) and one was Ultram(pain med), both of which were Rx by Nurse Practitioner.....so hardle dangerous, although the Soma can be very sedatative.

YES the cops were *&%$#@*&%$# low life, pieces of, well you know, who seemed to get a "kick" and great enjoyment abusing their authority as they cuffed me and towed my car....anyway I had to be bailed out of jail, spent almost 24 hours locked up....hire a lawyer.....return to court several times to try and resolve it.....charges were later dropped, however, the "charge" still appears on my permanent record and I have had one prospective employer ask me to explain.

Please do not assume or base actions on internet info. or contributors advice no matter how genuinely kind and reasonable......contact a legally knowledgable expert and know the "law" in your state......the expense in money, time and aggravation is simply NOT worth "guessing"
