Hey,

New here! I appologize if this has been brought up already.

I was recently diagnosed with ADD and I am curious about the effects of Concerta. A while ago my friend let me try one of her Adderalls (she is also ADD) The effect was a little "speedy" I felt the difference in my body about 30 min to an hour after I took it. I was more active, talkitive, and attentive.

My question is how will Concerta feel different from Adderall? I understand Concerta was made to be released slower to spread out longer. But since they are in the same drug catagory will I still feel "speedy" and talkitive? Or will it be mellow enough to just make me focus and be more attentive?

Thanks

Well, this might just be my experience and you could have a totally different outcome but I switched to Concerta once in the past to get away from Adderall side effects and it gave me a migraine every time I took it and did nothing else for me.

My doctor said it could take a few MONTHS for the Concerta to start really working and I had classes starting in a month, also did not want a migraine everyday so I switched back to Adderall.

So in other words, I probably won't even notice anything different until a few weeks?

I am not on concerta but am taking ritalin. If you have never taken add meds before on a regular basis you will most certainly notice ritalin almost immediately. It does not make me feel speedy and talkative but it does help me focus (the reason I take it). But, as you will find out, we are all different and what works for one person may not work the same way for someone else and vice versa. There really is no way to avoid the trial and error process.
