I want to try to guesstimate the dimensions of 1.7cubic feet.
I know 1.7cuft is 20.4"
I know to find the volume of a rectangular prism, its LxWxH
I just dont know what formula or conversions to do to get that approximate size of a 1.7cuft block of space.
I am trying to determine the interior dimension of a small refrigerator, without actually being able to measure the inside dimensions.
Thanx!

A cube with 1.7 cubic feet of volume is about 14-5/16" on a side.
That might not sound right, but that's probably because you misunderstood the cubic to linear relationship. 1.7 cu. ft. is not 20.4". 1.7 linear feet is 20.4". (Pause for sound of hand slapping forehead. :) Yes, we know you knew that.)
A cubic foot is 12 x 12 x 12 or 1728 cubic inches. 1.7 cubic feet is 2937.6 cubic inches. The cube root of 2937.6 is 14.32" or about 14-5/16". Kind of a small refridgerator, probably not cubic but more sixpack-like.
Tune in tomorrow as we explore exponents! :D

hmm let me give that some thought...
*runs away*
all I can think of is : your feet look like cubes!
hmm, 1 ft is 12 inch right? pardon me if I got that wrong, i live in SI units.
So a cubic artifact will have that to the 3rd power = 12*12*12 is 1728
multiplied by 1,7 is some 2938 cubic inch.
Unless factor 1.7 is meant to be in the linear dimension so we are talking 1.7 to the power 3 times 1728 would be about 8428
Off course the formula for the prism is not L * B * H but the relative differences between cubic feet and cubic inches are not affected by that, only the total volume
BTW if you want dimensions in inches:
2938 cubic inch would be slightly under 14.4 inch
8428 cubic inch would be slightly under 20.4 inch (your number !!)
You were right all along. Assuming its not a prism but a cube off course
O, and sorry zoom dude. I noticed you had already given the same results!
I just got carried away.
