:eek:I am worried as my8 yr old sons (he's homeschooled) SAT scores came in and while he did tops in math and reading/ vocabulary. he did middle low on something called.. the language subtest, I can't imagine what that is? It is only a second grade.

Any suggestions as to what it is, so I can work more in these areas?

a google page with the following search "language subtest" sat .....

from the first article i clicked on from that serach ...

"From grade 1 through grade 12 the Stanford 9 Language subtest measures studentsí achievement in applying the principles that form effective writing. Students are tested for language mechanics, capitalization, punctuation and usage. Students are assessed on their understanding of sentence structure. Students are assessed in regard to language expression while testing such crucial aspects of understanding as the ability to recognize extraneous information, combine sentences and/or use of descriptive language."

janine, sounds like you may have your work cut out for you attempting to make this type of coursework interesting! -- i got bored just reading the description ... ;)

Thankyou Wheezie! It all fits now. That is his weak area. I was trying to back off as writing correctly has always been a point of frustration to him. I was thinking he is just a little less able to develope those skills at this time. He hates having to use Capitals in certain areas etc.. I am and was week in those areas too. Didn't undertand that stuff hardly till I got out on my own. Then I picked it up reasonably well, as I was needing to apply it in life, not school.
Thanks again.
