Any books that folks found helpful for Inattentive ADD? A lot of books have been written on ADHD, but I'm not sure how much information is in them for ADD-I.
Thanks,
Mike

Easy to read and sums us up. MikeE11 09-09-09, 05:25 PM Where the wild things are by Maurice Sendak. Easy to read and sums us up. :) Not sure if you're being serious, but that is indeed a good book. Though I haven't read it in the context of ADD-I I will have to read it again. Personally I found these books to be great. No they may not specifically deal with inattentive ADHD per se, but I still found a lot of useful information. Asylum 09-10-09, 10:03 PM I found 'ADD In Adults' by Dr Gordon Serfontien really helpfull. It was published in the 90's, but it was really the only book that described add properly and at length to me - was the only book that mentioned the speech problems that some people have. Raico 09-11-09, 05:06 PM One book i really liked out of many was "ADD success stories" by Thom hartmann. Although its not specifically about Inatentive ADD it really is essential reading. Its by an ADD doctor who basically tells all his experiences with his patients and how they coped with their obstacles. Very good to compare and soak up on essential info Maurice 09-11-09, 09:09 PM Like everyone else has said, nothing about ADD-I in particular but.............. I did order a few books last month that came around the end of August. They are Attention Deficit Disorder in Adults by Dr. Lynn Weiss,Ph.D. Attention Deficit Disorder: A Different Perception by Thom Hartmann. The Edison Gene ADHD and the gift of the Hunter Child by Thom Hartmann. You Mean I'm Not lazy, Stupid of Crazy?! by Kate Kelly and Peggy Ramundo. And last but not least my favorite title Daydreamers and Daredevils New Perspectives in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder by Barbara D. Ingersoll,Ph.D. Should be an awful lot of great reading. And it ought ot keep me out of trouble for a while! rd_wnc 09-23-09, 08:47 AM Ari Tuckman's new book "More Attention, Less Deficit: Success Strategies for Adults with ADHD" seems useful. Mostly commone sense but it's written in an ADD friendly style and can be read in bits and pieces in any order. Very good to compare and soak up on essential info I don't agree with Dr. Hartmann's view on ADD (Hunters/Farmers) but this book did have a bunch of tips I found useful. Delivered From Distraction by Dr. Hallowell was a good book too. The one which gave me the best insight was "Healing ADD" by Dr. Daniel Amen. I was able to make a lot of improvements after reading it. |
