My son does have a 504 plan in place, the problem is the teacher is not doing what she is supposed to be doing. He has an assignment book and she is to check it and sign if work is complete. If his work is not done she don't sign. That way I know what has to be done and what has been done. She says he is not bringing assignment book to her to sign. so it is not getting done. He was doing great until the last 3-4 weeks. Now he is failing or near failing everything again. A couple of weeks ago he had a math assignment that I helped him with and it was done in ink. Teacher gave him a 0 because it was done in ink. HE DID IT! I don't think she should have given him a 0, maybe take some points off but not a 0. She crumpled the paper up and threw it away and told him to redo it. Of course he refused because he already did it once. She could have given him the paper and told him to copy it in pencil, but no, she threw it away. and now the assignment book, which is part of his 504.

Our school is closing, this is the last year. His teacher is not teaching again next year. She is retiring. She told me yesterday, that she is done helping son, that it is up to him to get work done. It is the end of the school year. Do I keep fighting or just let it go for this year and start with a new teacher next year?

What can I do about this? I have not talked to superintendant yet about this, everytime I call she is in a meeting. What are your thoughts on this situation?

By law they have no choice in the matter. They must follow the 504 plan if it is requested by the parent.

I would keep calling the superintendant, especially since a new year of school is about to start. Hopefully you won't have this problem again this year.
