After talking to my mother about my little sister we have come to the conclusion she is bipolar .( she doesnt have adhd but she could have o.d.d). my mother plans on making a apointment with the doctor next week. My question is what medication are best for bipolar female teens ? What has mild symthoms ?

Bipolar runs in our family my Aunt was diagnosed with it a few years ago . They believe my oldest son might be bipolar . Also my grandfather was bipolar.

In the main bipolar area I have some lists of things to look for, also many of us bipolars are oppsotional---whether its a seperate diagnosis or not depends on the doc and the person. The age youre describing is a particularly volitile time for bipolar people with alot of pain and rage. Keep us posted and hugs.

Medications differ from person to person, though the norm is a mood stabilizer ( usually an anti convulsant or anti psychotic) with antidepressants.

YA I saw your other posts and I sent the links to my mother .I apperciate it alot . YA there is a possibility she has o.d.d. too ... I only got to visit with my sister for a week in March . I noticed how she was happy one momment depressed the next then how all the sudden she would throw a fit for like no reason . She would also like jump on my moms lap as she was sitting in a chair my mom asked her to get up then demanded it because it was unconfrontable and starting hurting her my little sister then laughed and my mom yelled at her once more then she finally got up off her . Also my mom would ask my sister a question like how was school and all the sudden my sister would say FU and then walk off . Other days she would be like it was ok or boring. My mother has stated she has always been like this but it is getting worse with age.

My mom wants to know about medication before she see's the doctor so she can better edicate herself on the meds.

http://www.crazymeds.org/ is a good web site with information on many psychotropic medications. It's written in a humourous style. The fellow that writes it is ADHD and bipolar, I believe.
