Hi

I have been on Ritalin now a few months and cant really say that i feel a lot of improvement. I dont have a great deal of help from my doctor in terms of dosage etc but have to be as my doctor at the clinic say "my own doctor".
I just would like to know from you all what do you feel are the differences between adderall and ritalin? Have you tried the both, what did you experience?

Many thanks!!
Anna

This is a common question. I tried Adderall at first and, while it was pretty effective for me, caused a few side effects that I did not like. I switched to ritalin and for me it is, at least right now, more effective. On Adderall, I felt that it made me a bit detached (not like me at all). I am combined type and ritalin seems to be more effective in reducing my hyperactivity. I have come to the conclusion that most of my inattentiveness is due to the H part of my ADHD. I also have little or no side effects to report.

But, as you will learn, we are all respond differently to meds. You may very well, like others on here, have a completely different response than me. I might first talk to your doc about adjusting your dosage with ritalin. But, if it is still not helping to control your symptoms, trying adderall might be advisable. Nailing down the right med and dosage is pretty much a trial and error process. It is a bit frustrating but rewarding when you do find the right treatment.

Good luck.
