We currently have 2 fish (They are Pickle Girl's fish). I used to have a handsome golden lab. But I had to put my beautiful dog up for adoption, because someone I was to marry was allergic to dog hair :( <sniffle>

Granimals Granimals everywhere here.

Inside animals are:
My 2 cats Tux and Sheena aka Beans
Mom's Cat C. (I hate this cat, it pees on everything)

Outside Animals:
My 2 dogs, Sadie Sue, Sebastian
Mom's dog, Buddy he's up there in years and I'll be suprised if he makes it through the summer.

Cats that are outside. And are wild, they help keep the rodent pop down and the snakes away.
3 males: Peek a Boo because he peeks in the windows all the time. Squirt Tator (this cat is beautiful but very wild, he has silver and black hair..the silver is close to the body and it has black tips)
Sherbert is a orange and white tabby, his brother Tigger left.
Saphire a female cat that strayed here last year the momma to Sherbert and Tigger, and expecting again. She is a pastel Calico that talks alot but you can't touch her.

Peek-a-boo is the only one that I can pet, but only when he is eating scraps.

I have another pet too...my husband..lmbo oh guess that isn't included.

Sacha's a female kitty--very vocal, very loving, very silly! :)

Sacha turned 1 yr. old in March; Puck turned 1 yr. in May, and the twins had their first birthday August 6. My "kids" enrich my life in very entertaining ways.

Oh what wonderful cats Kassie! I absolutely love Storm (both the cat, condition, and X-Man character hehe).

I don't have hosting or I'd post a picture of my three cats Billy, Tyrone, and Ember.

Billy - blue point Siamese. Nicest soul you have ever seen in a cat. Always on you and purring all day if you are sick in bed; a little afraid of strangers. He's a rescue job - my wife and her friend found him on the road with a broken jaw, they think somebody kicked him (GRRRRR!!!!).

Tyrone (Ty-Ty): Humongous, with black and white patches. We call him our cowcat because of his colouring and size. Was one of a batch of kittens my wife was NOT going to take one of, but he crawled across the floor far too young to do so to get to her foot and when he got to it bit her on the toe. She fell in love instantly. He's a weird cat - likes to play fetch with objects as large as screwdrivers and once even a flashlight.

Ember - tiny black and brown tortoiseshell. She's another rescue job, wife and friend found a kid rubbing her face roughly into the concrete sidewalk and confiscated her immediately. She was too young to be separated from her mother but they nursed her back to health. She is still missing her lower front lip and some teeth.

WHY are people cruel to animals? GRRRRRRRRRR :(

Lost my black cat a month ago - he just didn't come home one day - am still very sad about it (especially because I don't know what happened). So I like smooch's Puck and Kassie's Storm pictures expecially, but you've all got beautiful pets. We still have his mother though, a little tabby cat. She looks a bit like boy Henry (though not as big!).

We've got two geckos too - my wife's thing originally, but I'm the one who worries about them most, even though it would never have occurred to me to keep reptiles as pets; I don't really like animals in cages (well, I like the animals but not the cages).

Jonathan~

I remember when you mentioned one of your cats had gone missing. I'm very sad for you.... :( I still remember losing my Cecile on Aug. 18, 2002 after having her for 16 years....

It makes me happy to hear that seeing pictures of my Puck can ease your sadness a bit. Wish you could meet him--he's a total HOOT!

Paul, all my cats but Henry are rescue cats so I admire what you have done with yours - applause!

Storm is a character which I just recently found out. For three years she has been hiding and been so skiddish around everyone and everything. That is unless she sees my roommates mice. Then she becomes STORM: Mighty huntress! and the new cat, Cinnamin... don't get me going... Storm is the smallest cat I have she is half the size of the other cats. But she is beating the heck out of Cinnamin and Cinnamin and Henry are the same size, huge! Cinnamin isn't fat though ;) But She is so afraid of Storm!!
Too funny.

...emode.com has a test to find out "What's your cat's type?" I just completed a test for Puck (the solid black one, except for a little white "accident" on his lower tummy, and a few white armpit hairs...). It was pretty right on target:

Your cat's a Hugger

That's right, your cat's the type to stay near you 24/7 (or at least know where you are at any given moment). They might even be closer to you than your own shadow! It's not that they're needier than others, it's just that they're driven by so much affection to spread, they can't wait to share it with you — whether you're on the sofa, or making the bed, or running a bath...

Now to do the tests for the other three! :D

I have 11 cats. Mostly Maine Coons. Also, a white cat that thinks he's a dog. He can be a nuisance. Thomas-the-Cat. "Tom Cat." "Tommy." He has to go for a walk with a leash every day, or he gets agitated until he gets his way. We have a cat leash law in our city. I enjoy watching people go by and laugh at us walking down the street, as if they hadn't seen a cat on a leash before. He was rescued when he was about two weeks old, 4 ounces in weight, because a mean man killed the mother and attempted to do so to her litter, blah, blah, blah. I have enjoyed people's pet responses. It's great.

I have two cats, a dog, and two fish (third one died recently :( ) My fish are one big black moor (a goldfish breed that's black with googly eyes) and a bottom feeder (still havn't found a name for him yet).

My dog, Yoko (not after Ono!! It's just a name that I like darn it! But my dog does sing!), is 5; a black lab mixed with rot- a smart sweetie! She lives for affection, and loves to 'sing' with people when they play the piano. She'll only do it when her song is played though; a hilarious 'bang on the keys' version of "memories"- it's so funny that it sends people to tears! I can't wait for a video camera, so I can tape it! And she does a great job at frightening the neighbors, I live in a shady part of town and no one realizes that her bark is worse than her bite. She was also rescued, from a starving litter of pups that a frat house abused badly. She's terrified of milk crates, and doesn't take to men immediately.

My oldest cat is Cleo, she's roughly 17 or 18 and very healthy. I've lived with her since I was about 5 so we are really attached. She used to hate me when I was a kid (I would hate someone too if they were always trying to dress me up). She's very defensive of me, and used to bite my dad's ankles and hiss at him when he tickled me as a kid; and does the same to my boyfriend if he raises his voice at me in an argument. :D

My other cat is Boris, we usually call him Bo Bo. I took him when he was the length of three half dollars, and bottle fed him because he was the runt of a litter and would have died from being pushed away from the nipples in favor of stronger kittens. He is a bombay, and loves to fetch (something Yoko cannot grasp). He's always bringing wadded up pieces of paper and balls and tapping me with his paw so I will throw it for him. No matter where they land, or how long it takes for him to find it, he will find it and come back with it. He has more focus than I do! He follows me everywhere, and wants to get into everything that I do. That includes pawing keyboards when I type- he doesn't know that he's a cat either!

great pictures!

Aw is right. Dodger is adorable. And for my update, you really can not take my husband out of the house. We now have 8 birds, 2 more english parakeets. One is a lutino (albino with yellow body and red eyes) and the other is a grey. Too many animals. At least he didn't bring home a puppy.

Ah so this is the thread you wanted me to post on Spasepeepole.

My little Zoo consists of,

1) English springer spaniel called Amber. She is liver and white with a whole tail and no brain. She is the sweetest best natured dog.

2) Tia is my 3lb 10oz Yorkshire Terrier. She may be small but she thinks she is a rottweiler and will "see off" anyone without a second thought.

3) Walter is our three legged, deaf, odd eyed white cat. He has no idea what he is and will readily fight with anything, cat or dog. Thankfully he doesnt go out the garden so not too many neighbours have complained about his thuggery.

4-6) Our marginated tortoises, Hercules, Titus and magda. They live indoors on a purpose built table and are about the funniest animals ever. They have this theory that if their heads will fit so will the rest of them. you see them pushing and shoving at big lumps of wood cos they have got their heads under but not their shells.

7-9) Three Ferrets, Rex is pole-cat coloured, Lilly is a pink eyed white and Gimbal is Sandy coloured. They are all mad and hyperactive. So funny to watch them charging about and getting into everything. Eternal children they are.

10) French lop rabbit called Hatty. She is huge and white and very friendly.

11)Tilly is a Rex Rabbit, she is Ginger in colour and soft as velvet.

12)Molly is the tiny bunny of the bunch. She is a netherland dwarf crossed with a Lionhead. So tiny sticky up ears in a majour lion ruff.

13-14) Our corn snakes, Hagrid and Cookie. Hagrid is a miami and Cookie is a Reverse oketee.

15-16) Our hand reared cockateils. Dobby is a pearled boy and Rosy is a pied girl. They are very friendly and love to sit on my shoulders while i am at the PC and sort out my hair for me.

17-20) Gerbils, Brinks and Matt are silver and cinamen, nutmegs. Mr and Mrs are both pied, one silver and one normal nutmeg.
Walter thinks they are telly and will sit and watch them for hours, and in the end nods off.

21+) is our fish tank. We have got Angel fish, Congo tetras, purple Goby's, upside down catfish, sailfin plecs, a bulldog plec, some corys, horsefaced loaches, spiny eals, twig catfish and a few others.

Being a SAHM, I have plenty of time for them all and without them i am sure i would have gone nutty a long time ago.
Animals dont get bent out of shape if you forget their birthday do they?

spasepeepole
01-04-04, 11:58 AM
Capri, it's obvious, YOU WIN! If anyone has more of a zoo than you I'd be absolutely shocked. I think you should start charging admission to the neighborhood children to visit. :)

capri
01-04-04, 12:38 PM
Ta Angie,
There are a lot when you put it all down in black and white.
In reality they all have their place and my short attention span means they all get a dose of attention on a regular basis.

I have a none human pal to suit my every mood and breeding unusual and exotic species is a great challenge for me. THough waiting for reptile eggs to hatch is sooooo hard for me.

I must admit a lot of local kids use my kids as an excuse to come by and see the animals, but i dont allow that so much now.
I do think about charging for my dog training/problem solving abilities though.

I am endlessly facinated by animal nature and envy them their ability to do what comes naturally without worrying about how others will feal.
They also dont care how they look and are not embaressed by bodily functions or hung up on finding the higher purpose in life.

They dont agonise over how they are rearing their children either and always just make the most of their natural skills.

Animal etiquet is always clear to them and tought from early in life and even complex pack animals know their place in the scheeme of things from early on.

We adopted a new baby Friday, an 8 week old german shepherd/lab retriever mix. We call her Faolin, which means "wolf" in Gaelic. She got sick with Parvo on Sunday and we had to put her to sleep yesterday. I think she would have been the greatest dog ever. She was paper trained in one day. She would jump out of the laundry basket she was sleeping in to use the paper even though she was extremely weak from the virus.

Awww, Flakey Girl that is awful. I am sorry about your puppy. That is heartbreaking when babies of any kind die. :(

I have loved animals since I was born. In fact, I have a greater respect for animals than most people.

My ex-husband and I share custody of five kids. Three of the five kids are doogies. What would life be like without them? The smallest, Sam, was diagnosed with epilepsy last week. I have four cats, three whom live with me.

I had a huge iguana for years, his name was Oscar. I had an outdoor cage for him, but he kept escaping. One day the neighbors called the police and I had to go spring him from "jail." I had to give him to a man who had iguanas and who could keep him on his farm. He is well cared for now.

Yes, yes! I could go on forever about animals! Anyone watch animal planet?

FlakeyGirl
06-24-04, 12:22 PM
Thanks, Onwari. We are all getting over the loss pretty well, but I keep expecting to see Faolin when I pass by the bathroom.

I am sorry to hear about Sam. What breed and how old is he? We have a golden retriever mix who has epilepsy also. She only has seizures a couple of times a year and they come in clusters. She does not take medication. From all the research I have read, it seems like seizures are not so much harmful as stressful. PM me if you like and I'll let you know of some things which I have found to help.

Our dog Willie is named for General Patton's dog, my hubby is a history nut. He's a 42 pound pit bull who thinks he's a tiny, lap dog. And yes, he's very gentle and sweet, most pits are fine, it's the owners you need to be careful of.

We have a fish who is unorginally named "Nemo" at my children's behest. Say, he's a betta, what else lives with a betta without eating or procreating with each other?

The "other" is my collection of slugs and snails. And there were a couple of earthworms thrown in but that's my kids again. I love cepholopods (sp?). They have the most beautiful eyes and when they crawl on your skin it's like a slow, wet, kiss. Very endearing.

I hate cats and dogs! I will not have my home turned into a ****hole! Life is hard enough as it is. I love women. Women are my favorite animals. Women rule!

Aww, Look at that woman over there. She's so cute. I wanna take her home with me.

Excuse me....Are U comparing us women as Pets? We are not pets we are human being and not animals!!!!

I have two cats that I'd just as soon not have at this point since the care of them has fallen to me. But they mostly blend into the background at this point. - Don't have any pictures at the moment.

BUT as a kid my answer could have been All of the Above! We always had a wide variety of animals ranging from your average dogs and cats, to the unusual like Pythons and Magpies!

One time our landlord said he was going to sell tickets LOL

Pets seem to rule our house. In house, 2 dogs, both strays, one in his last days...2 cats...2 others died this year....2 cockatiels. In the barn 3 pigs, 3 peacocks, many chickens (Barred Rocks) couple of rogue cats, 3 Chinese geese...The pigs and many of the chickens will play another role down the line, but for now, they're pets.

my 2 kitties are Bianca (who is actually a boy - LOL - that's a whole other story) who is 5 and Romeo, 3 years old. Romeo is kind of Bianca's pet. Bianca used to be a brat, biting everyone and rarely nice to anyone. I heard that a second cat may help calm him down, plus I wanted another one! Romeo has totally helped mellow Bianca. I think they're finally friends after 3 years.

Judit,
what breed of puppy are you getting, will this be a gift?

I just cannot imagine a life without a dog, I'd be at the local shelters every single day for lunch just to be around a dog if I couldn't own one.

IrishLady,
your dog is absolutely gorgeous looks stout enough to pull your boy in a wagon!

gabriela, how do you pronounce totte's name?

Thanks all for sharing the pics, even looking at pet pics is relaxing for me! Pet photography is a tricky project I'm not the best at taking any sort of pics but it really seems difficult to take pictures of critters -for me anyway.

mutt - part lhasa apso and parts terrier (various percentages unknown). Not a gift, unless you count it as a gift to myself.

They were born on Nov. 12, and won't be "ready" until the end of January-beginning of February.

a kitty, Merry
and an aquarium full of South American fish.

hi karma welcome!

Is your aquarium salt water or fresh?

I've always been too intimidated to own a parrot, because I hear it's pretty difficult to take care of parrots and they cost alot too.
I've raised canaries, finches, cockatiels, quail, pheasant, chickens, geese, ducks (wow alot of birds, huh) though.;D

Fresh water, tried salt for a while, but it was a lot of work to maintain.

parrots can be expensive i think they're cheaper if you buy them as chicks. i suppose it's difficult for some people, but i've lived with birds my whole life so i'm used to it, to me it's just like having a little brother or sister. they're very interesting animals. :)

hey Charlie - thought I'd let you know, we picked out our puppy yesterday. My daughter liked the black male with a wee bit of tan on it's nose. Now I need to think of a name, since Van Gogh is obviously out.
I think I checked "hamster" as one of our pets. She died 2 days ago and was buried with honors in the back yard....no more rodents, thank you very much.

Lisa, I also have a rott but only 50%; the other half is golden retriever. My second dog is a pretty mix of many breeds. My rott was diagnosed with diabetes last January. Taking care of him has forced me to be a little more organized.
Since I take Adderall, maybe stroking my pets has kept my blood pressure down.

I have three cats.
Cat 1 is called Blackie, she is 12 I think, she has a flabby belly and screams a lot and likes fighting other cats when they step into her territory. :D
http://www.rumongo.co.uk/blackieonback3small.JPG
^Picture of her

Cat 2 is called Samianther and is Blackie's sister. She can be found doing one of the following things- sleeping and dribbling, eating dried food/cat biscuits or sitting still and looking at the fire, whilst also dribbling.Technically she's my sister's cat but Sam likes me better! :D
http://www.rumongo.co.uk/bas.JPG
^Sam is on the right of this photo

Cat 3 is called Goldie-Cat.I do not have a photo of her at the moment, but she is a gold/black colour, and was a ferral cat.
She would not come near anyone originally, but now likes rubs and staying in the house.

I also have rats.
I have had six in total, but now only have three.
Tiesto died only yesterday,he had two other brothers-Splinter and Tom.
They were pensioner rats though.
Splinter died in september of a severe chest infection and Tom died of cancer in
November.
http://www.rumongo.co.uk/rattiesinthemorning11small.JPG
From the top to the bottom of the photo: Tom,Splinter and Tiesto.

I also have three other rats-himalyan buck rats to be exact. :D
I got them from a rat sanctuary when they were only 10weeks old, someone had dumped them and other rats beside a canal.
They are a cream colour, with red eyes and grey noses, they are still very young and are not fully grown yet.
Oh,almost forgot, they are called Shadow,Tux and Bucky-the only way to know which rat is which,is by the slightly different shading of grey on their noses.

I am the proud Mom of twin wacky beagle brothers (Seamus breac-dubh and Matthew Liam te barr ), age 5, and a 17 year old cat (Friday da cat) who is a tad psychotic and vocal at times.

I also have at least 1 dog in spirit hanging out with us as well. Her name is Alyxandra Samantha Mikula. Apparently she is the beagle in charge.

I love our kids. I enjoy sitting with them and giving them rubbings. They in turn make me smile and laugh. They also keep me warm at night. Or I keep them warm, we haven't figured that out yet. They are great exercise companions. I was teaching them to garden, but they don't seem to get the difference between flowers and weeds. They also love to sit on small tomatoe plants. They do an awesome job patroling the yard and keeping it free of birds, squirrels and chimpmunks. They are also great at keeping the yard free of grubs. I just wish they would refill the holes they dig.

Animals are great. Never Buy Anything From A Pet Store That Sells Live Animals.
