I was reading some threads and I stumbled upon the condition "Auditory Processing Disorder". Until then I have never heard of it before. I like a number of people have been diagnosed with a long list of issues. (ADD, Depression, Anxiety, Hearing impairment, learning disabilities< ya and you thought your medical file was big..LOL).

Anyone have information about symptoms of Auditory Processing Disorder?
Please share..

Thank you!!

The symptoms of ADHD and auditory processing disorder are identical. Our son had auditory processing disorder, but before he was diagnosed the school people nagged me about putting him on meds. Only problem was, he could sit still and focus when I did homework with him, so I didn't think it was ADHD. He was diagnosed with auditory processing disorder and got an FM system in school, and his attention issues have nearly vanished.

Here's a site that has a bunch of info:

CAD and ADD Central Auditory Processing Disorder: When is Evaluation Referral Indicated? (

The comorbidity of central auditory processing disorders with attention deficit disorders has been well documented. But often a child's initial diagnosis depends largely on whether he or she is seen by an audiologist or psychologist. Therefore, it is important that professionals be aware of when an auditory attention deficit and central auditory processing disorder may cormorbidly exist in order to make appropriate referrals for further evaluation.
