Okay, halloween is fast approaching and my nephew has specifically requested me to be the one to trapse around the streets with him collecting sweets and knocking on doors.

He's going as a 'wounded soldier' and is currently stocking up on all the fake blood and bandages he can get his hands on.
He insists that I have to dress up to accompany him, which isn't a problem as far as I'm concerned... after all any excuse to throw on a costume and scare children

Nephew is 11 (12 next month) and you may think that perhaps he's getting a bit old for this sort of thing, but he's so set in his ways and being autistic, he doesn't see the harm or that other kids will tease him, which is why one of us (my brothers and I) always go with him to keep him out of harms way (water balloons, silly string attacks - he hates that stuff).
His 8 year old sister has already declared halloween 'lame' and isn't going in case any of her friends see her... her loss I say!

Anyway, I've got a few costumes in my aresenal; I"ve put up some examples of what each looks like too for comparison (so, no thats not me ;))

Black & White striped prison uniform (thanks mum...) complete with current police issue handcuffs (don't ask where I aquired these from) and an optional straitjacket:

optional:

a chicken costume:

a fighter pilot uniform:

a 'Papa Lazarou' costume (from the TV show 'the league of gentlemen'):

and the makings of an Incan 'headhunter' costume (bizarre cave-troll-lady not included :)):

So which do you think I should go for?

I like the chicken but that is because I find it silly to see giant walking poultry.

Have fun!

Last time I wore that chicken suit was on my motorcycle for a charity bike run.
Now that was funny: 6 foot chicken rides motorcycle...

I think a kid his age would find the fighter pilot pretty awesome, but you've got some pretty cool options to choose from, Logic! :)

I'm going gothic style for Halloween, because I have a dance performance at the party...no need to dress down after, just to dress up again for the party, right?
Maybe I'll add a few trinkets after, but that'll be it.

The opportunity to get to dress up (and go over the top with it too) fuels at least 50% of my affinity for dancing in the first place! ;)

Hey Logic, I think it's really fantastic you accompanying your younger brother on his "Trick~or~Treat jaunt. :D:D:D Since he's going as a Wounded Soldier, I think, like Prusilusken says it would be great to go as the Fighter Pilot~ only make it a Search and Rescue Mission, kind of thing. LOL!!! The Strait jacket thing might be a little constricting....LOL!!! :D

At any rate have a Fun Filled Halloween and I hope your younger brother gets lots of candy and treats without the stuff that bothers him.
My hat's off to You and your brothers.:D

:):cool::D:cool:;):rolleyes:;):):D

I've had that straitjacket for about a year, and only been 'in' it once, and that was at work for the event where I acquired it from in the first place.
It took 5 of my security colleagues to wrestle me into it, over about a ten minute time span (I put up a decent fight) and had to ask some random person to get me out...

So, yeah, perhaps a little bit too much for trick-or-treating with. I guess I could wear it backwards (having the buckles and straps at the front) like some sort of wierd overcoat... I dont know.
I'll have to wait and see what the results of the poll say! :)

The Headhunter costume is out...
I don't think strolling around wearing nothing more than bodypaint and a grass skirt is the best idea when we have sideways rain and fierce gales at the minute

Maybe save that one for next summer when I'm not likely to catch pneumonia and freeze half to death!

Wear the straight jacket while you walk around trying to chew off your own ear: trust me you'll look authentic.

Are straitjackets actually still used? Or are just newer versions of them? Just wondering. Wouldn't wear one even as a "costume."

I think that's stereotypical stuff . . . ? Well, I do know of restraints, but bona fide straitjackets? Hmm. Sure hope they're a thing of the past.

I'll take the fighter pilot.

So have you decided, Logic?

circularingcats: This one's 'real', the tag says it was manufactured in 2007, I guess google 'Posey' and look at their website (this one is made by them).

Anyway, I'll post which one I went with tomorrow before I go out with my nephew. Looks like I'll be dressing as poultry though, but it's only a two point lead, so it all could change by tomorrow...

I like the fighter pilot. It will segue well with your nephew's "wounded soldier" and has the added attraction of being intimidating without being "intimidating". Yes, I think I can explain myself...

What is most important is that you and your nephew enjoy your Halloween together!

Thanks for voting people:

Eventually went with the Fighter Pilot get-up, event though it was a tie with the chicken suit, I felt it was more organic to his wounded soldier theme.

Wore the prison suit to the doorstaff night out though... :)
