first off, i'm a 21 year old college student, with a very stressful life. friend issues, school issues, etc.

i'm prescribed dexedrine and will probably start taking it more often.

i suffer from OCD, social and general anxiety, and what i believe to be is adjustment disorder.

i will be taking zoloft every morning...

i used to be very hesitant but feel that there's no other option. my doc recommended it so i guess i'll try it.

how long will it take to work, will i "feel" a difference and so forth.

also, i'm a college student, and drink socially, how will it affect that? my doc says that alcohol may make me sick, but how so? i care more so about the negative side effects....

It'll be anywhere from 2-4 weeks before it reaches full effect; you may feel changes from day 1.

You may experience some side-effects for anywhere from 3-6 months.

I took Zoloft for long time. It made me sweat all year long. It takes several weeks to start working.

I took zoloft for a few years when I was around 16-19. It worked well for depression, moderately for OCD, but didn't really prove helpful for anxiety. Just my experience.

Also, i didn't have any issues drinking when taking Zoloft, but you may want to explore that further with your doctor if you plan on consuming alcohol.

Some antidepressants can increase the effect of alcohol.

i've been reading about the ugly withdrawal effects and how zoloft can permanently mess with your brain...so i'm officially deciding to NOT even try it...

I took it for a year many years ago. No permanent anything from it, but I'll tell you I didn't know what depression was until I started taking it. Right about the time I was due for the next dose, I was touchy, dysphoric, etc. Of course, SSRI's are a mixed bag and Zoloft is a godsend for some and not so hot for others. Don't believe all the horror stories published out there. It either works for you or it doesn't.
