Anyone else out there with OCD and ADD?
I have had problems all my life with procrastination and not being able to concentrate. I've lost 2 teaching jobs partially due to my organizational problems. My current college teaching job is also in jeopardy. After suffering from severe insomnia for over 3 years, 5 years ago I was diagnosed with OCD. I've also long suspected ADD also. My daughter was diagnosed with ADD 10 years ago after flunking out of college with a 1200 SAT score. Last week I was diagnosed with ADD and have just started Ritalin,

We have a sub-section for OCD. It's listed under Anxiety in the Associated Conditions section (toward the botton of the main page).

Kassie, what has your experience with OCD and ADD been? Are you on OCD meds? I have been on Anafranil for 5 years for OCD and now am taking Ritalin for ADD. My doctor says the Ritalin may affect the blood levels of Anafranil so I'm going to have that checked. When I consider the effects that the Ritalin is having on me, I need to remember that everything is being affected by presence of other meds, also including Zoloft, synthroid, and a low dose of Desyrel to help me sleep.
I must admit I've been very productive today, 4th day on Ritalin.

I have both of these disorders as well. It's a bizarre mix, don't you think? How does Anafranil do for you? I take Effexor for the OCD and Adderall XR for ADHD. I'm pretty well stabilized right now, thank god!
Oh boy, does this all sound familiar. :-) My OCD is, for the moment, in remission. I credity Lexapro for most of this relief. I also have GAD, Panic disorder, and Major depressive disorder in addition to my ADD. Depression is the only thing not responding to meds and that is only because the medication they added to help with that turned out to be antagonistic with the lexapro. I take Adderall XR for my ADD, and it seems to work quite nicely.

It's kinda like playing "whack a mole" isn't it? Once you get the ADHD under control, the obsessions start up, once you get those under control, the depression starts up, once you get the depression under control........the Adderall needs to be upped. LOL.
