Well, I finally did something right in regards to my computers...

I backed my new macbook pro up onto my external drive, and I created a bootable disk.

I found this article and video from MacWorld, and that's what gave me the idea about the boot disk...

The video...

The article...

It was easy. I did get myself a 16GB High Speed card (PNY Optima HDSC) and I'm glad I did... plenty of room!
Not only did I put my Snow Leopard files on it, but I added utilities like Data Rescue 3... http://www.prosoftengineering.com/products/data_rescue.php?PHPSESSID=59242bef55daa15521daa73f 2e1bf6bc

and ONYX... http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/onyx.html

and ClamXav... http://www.clamxav.com/

I'm going to look at Avast!, next... http://www.avast.com/

This even boots my daughter's older macbook just fine (she also has 10.6).

For the first time in my life... I'll be ready if/when my laptop gets squirrely on me!:D
