ok, ive had add and anxiety for years now, but the anxiety is getting really bad again. my only real symptom of anxiety and panic attacks are nausea. i just get so freaking nautious out of nowhere. my hands sometime will sweat and my heart will beat fast.

its always been the nausea which affected me the most. ive had the anxiety nausea since i was 16 in 1994.

its horrible in cars, movie theatres, concerts, things like that. its getting so bad now its ruling my life.

like yesterday i went to the movies and i was sitting there and just got so incredibly nautious. i had to keep getting up and walking to the bathroom to stop the feeling that i was gonna throw up. it was horrible.

i have this weird thing i do when i get horribly nautious from an anxiety attack. i start picking my gums with my finger nail and start digging into my belly button with my finger nail to take my mind off the nausea. its weird and i hate it. im a 25yo male.

ive tried many drugs but nothing really works. zoloft worked ok but i had sexual side effects so i quit. klonipin works well when im having an attack but ive been out for 2 months. my dr wont give me refills so i have to go in and see her and its so hard since i dont have a car and shes far away.

anyone else suffer just mainly from horrible nausea? ive never thrown up, but have come close millions of times.

just a few min ago out of nowhere sitting here at my comp, i got 2 nausea attacks back to back. i felt fine then out of nowhere i got horrible nautious and almost threw up. it was very odd.

it happens sometimes when i take these tylenol pm like sleep aid. when i start to get tired and feel like falling asleep, the anxiety nausea comes on strong. very weird.

anybody know a good med they could suggest that might help with the nausea from anxiety? i cant deal with it anymore. im on dissability and cant l;eave the house without getting really nautious. :(

I don't really know about meds there, but did you have a closer look at the reasons why you keep having these attacks?

I used to have anxiety attacks for a while and it seems to kick in when I don't feel good with myself, when theres stress (or rather, when I am walking a path in my life that I know is not the best for me.) and when I have less weight. It is somehow connected to bloodpressure in me.
The best thing, however, is to check what makes you feel that bad.

Other then that I can't help you, besides telling you that I know how bad it sucks what you're going through right now.

Have you had a complete physical lately to rule out any other type of condition?

You should not have to live like this. If the current Doctor is not helping you them maybe it's time to find another doctor.

I get nautious when I have severe anxiety like when I have to get blood work done or have a shot. It's a horrible feeling. I can't imagine going through it as often as you do.

its always been here and my main symptom of anxiety/panic disorder. it started in 1994 when i was 16 in a movie theatre. its the same sensation. ive been to numerous drs and have had a ton of tests done and they always come back saying its just anxiety. its awful. its getting really bad lately. out of nowhere i just get this deep nausea and i have to grip things near me and start breathing deep to help loosen it. my heart beats fast, then after a min or so it goes away but comes back often.

its the worse at movie theatres or concerts or in a car. its weird. like at a concert and theatre i know its panic cuz i get anxious worrying about getting an axnxiety attack and getting nautious so it makes me nautious and brings one on. its so freaking weird how it just comes out of nowhere. i dont know what to do. all the drs i see just try me on things like paxil and zoloft. the zoloft helps but it has sexual side effects.

they also used to give me klonopin which helps a lot especially for my racing mind at night when i try to get to sleep, but the dr i see is so far and i hate it there. they dont seem to care about patients. what sucks is that im on dissability for my anxiety right now so the dr i see is about the only dr in my area who accepts my insurance (medi cal). ugh. i need help! i hate this nausea. its forcing me to stay home all the time now.

I have occipital lobe epilepsy, and it presents as severe nausea while riding in a car/watching TV etc. If you have not had an EEG with visual evoked potential, get one ASAP.No reason to keep suffering when there are effective meds! Another option is the 24 hour EEG (you wear this thing with wires to your head, I get to do it again later this month) which you wear while you do stuff that make you sick. I'm going to watch Spider Man three times back to back :) with a barf bag handy....

Now that you have brought this up, sometimes I wonder that when I call into work sick and say my stomch is upset, I wonder if I am really having anxiety!. It seems like once I lay down calm down with in just a matter of a short period of time it has passed.

I am glad you brought this up because it will help me to be more aware of my body.

Thanks

It's like I wrote that post. That's EXACTLY how I am, always nauseaus, and worrying about BEING nauseaus. I can't explain it to anyone else, because they say i'm crazy. I have yet to go to a doctor. I keep putting it off for some reason, but this happens to me on a daily basis. Im always worried about throwing up. I get sweaty palms, racey heart. It just comes and go's. I get nervous in big crowds (social anxiety) or places that are really loud. I'm always worried these things will trigger me to throw up. I always thought it was only me, but to come here and see this, makes me think there IS light at the end of the tunnel. Thank You.

*sigh* i thought i was the only one going though this. It's like that exact same thing. i get nausiated whenever I go into a place where it won't be a place suitible for vomiting (i.e. movies, school, practically anywhere away from a bathroom or trashcan) and have i ever thrown up? no. but it still sucks having to deal with this everyday. Also, i have a question for all of those people that are having this problem. Do you ever feel like intoxicated, but not in the fun way. like you've had too many to drink and get sick, because thats the way it sometimes feels to me.

Yeah, thats how i feel sometimes. I walk into a place, and if there isnt anywhere to get sick, a trashcan or bathroom, i start to get nervous.

I also have this problem. Anxiety/panic attacks constantly. Nausea is my main symptom as well..well other then the racing heart and shortness of breath, trembling and sweating hands.

I take meclizine for the nausea. (I also get severely car sick due to an inner ear imbalance and vertigo) The meclizine helps quite a bit and can be bought over the counter fairly in-expensively. I'm not a doctor, but my doctor always try to prescribe this for me and I just tell him ahh I can get it cheaper over the counter..lol

Just a thought you might want to discuss with your respective doctors:

Nervousness/anxiety can often lead to the creation of alot of stomach acid (sour stomach), GERD (gastro-esophageal reflux) or LPR (laryngeal pharyngeal reflux). All of these can cause you to feel nauseous, and while seperate issues that can be treated medically, can be linked to anxiety as well.

Good point big and lets don't forget IBS. (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)

I was diagnosed with GERD. Its not fun, and i'm sure thats part of my problem. I've tried alot of things, and the only medication that works for me is Nexium, which is very expensive and I don't have insurance. I also believe I have IBS but that hasn't been diagnosed yet. I have a awful time with that, and hopefully can get some meds to make me regular again.

I too have had GERD for many years. My mom says I've always been a nervous person from birth to present. I just must be wired this way. On top of the problems with my stomach and also having IBS I have a hiatal hernia, was born with it. Doctors are now wanting to do surgery, but like so many of us, I have no insurance so I live on prilosec OTC. Thank Goodness for this medication because it has gotten to the point that all I could eat is Oatmeal No butter and rice. Starting to think my gallbladder may be going now. Hmm...well that's the consensus anyways.

hi my name is bianca im 14 years old and I have the exact same thing as you. its a real p1ssed off if you ask me iv missed so many days of school because of this. it has been 3 years that i have been suffering with this and honestly im sick of being sick all the freakin time the 1st time it happend was let me see umm omg in a movie theater when i was watching penochio or wtv the new verision and i had to get up several times and rush to the washroom because i thought i was gona be sick at the same time i had bad chest pains.

the doctors always told me it was stress and told me nothing else wow wat a big help tell me its stress and send me home! iv had a couple of panic attacks recently my last one was yesterday morning before school i was just reading posts about ppl who have the same condition as me, doin my make up and listenin to you're beautiful by james blunt(im such a multi-tasker lol) and out of nowhere i broke into tears and ran into the washroom and started hyperventalating, shaking and gaging. needless to say that my make up was screwed up after ugh! lol but then i knew i had to force myself to get to school so i took my prevacid like i would normally do since i was told by my doctor to take it cuz apparently my stomach causes to much acid or sumthing like that and i mite have gerd(acid reflux) which isnt for sure since they never bothered doing any tests to confirm that i had it and i took a gravol which put me half asleep but i think helped me anyways.

i have been reading a lot about my symptoms for a while since im always home sick mite as well try to figure out wats wrong wit me since the doctors arent much help. and iv read that antidepressants mite help or these pills called benzo sumthing lol sry this doesnt really help but im sure if yu look up generalize anxiety disorder you'll find exactly wat pills are being used to help ppl in our situation.haha must be weird gettin advice from a 14 year old but anyways yeh iv suffered from it for 3 years and im seriously giving up i have an appointment next week wit my doctor and im gona talk to her about antidepressants because i guess wit antidepressants id be calm which means i wouldnt be nervous which means i wouldnt be nauseated well i dont kno but i makes sense to me.

so anyways my advice is dont take crap from any doctor who says its stress and tells yu to leave stay there until they prescribe meds and give yu referals for a therapist or else yur gonna be sick for the rest of yur life

I don't have ADD, but I do have panic attacks. I don't know the cause precisly, but it's definitely related to nursing class. Not test anxiety, not working with people, I just get nauseous when I start to class. The other day, I threw up in my car on the way to school, and ended up dropping the class. Now I have to reapply to get in the program. I don't know if I want to go through with it. I don't know how to get tested for anything, and I don't have insurance. Joni

I often get a 'choking' feeling in my throat, which makes me gag. I really hate that! It seems to affect me most in the morning, after coffee, before going to work, or in the car on the way to work, and sometimes I'll throw up for no real reason. Up it comes, out of nowhere. It's like someone has their hands around my throat, pressing with their thumbs to make me gag.

well well well....I feel exactly the same as everyone else!

I don't think I'm socially shy as I'm always around lots of people and I love the attention....but when it comes to eating out (crowded restaurant or lunch area at work) it changes, I get really REALLY nauseous. I've been diagnosed with GERD and hiatal hernia, I used to take Protonix and Tilium for about 6-7 months until I felt better...I still take Prilosec OTC from time to time if I feel heartburn, maybe 2-3 pills each week.

I also get nauseous at the movies for no reason at all, I know that I will not throw up so I use that to calm down and enjoy whatever I'm doing...I also get car sick but only if I'm riding in the back seat....driving or front seat and I feel fine.

I hate psycologysts so I'm trying to "cure myself" by slowing down, eating healthy and generally having an optimistic way to see things...I've been getting better. I need to master these relaxation techniques in order to re-gain control of my life...as a 28y/o male its hard to get sick when everyone is having a great time. :(

I found a solution for the nausea. Ask your doctor for compazine. It makes me feel like a normal person again. I stopped feeling like I have to have a paper bag ready all the time and I can stay on anti-anxiety drugs that make my life bearable.

Scared female, it is very possible that you have a phobia of vomiting, called Emetophobia. That might be causing you panic attacks. The problem is that at some point you might just stop going out because of your fear. Then you would probably become agoraphobic (like me).
SO, I recommend you to go to therapy, if possible, a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, so that you can learn how to deal with this situation, how to overcome the fear of vomiting and be able to go out again.
I am doing so right now!!!

For the other people, anxiety does cause a lot of nausea. Probably you are in a constant state of anxiety and thats why it just never goes away. I recommend a lot to take care of what you eat, not eat too much at once. Chew or sip ice or very cold water normally helps. Make exercise to burn all that anxiety. Breath deeply and hold it for 5 seconds, then let it go slowly, repeat until you start feeling better. Many times we hyperventilate and it causes nausea too, so learning how to breathe and relax is very important. Try learning natural relaxation tecnhiques.
Godd luck!

I get like this, about passing out. Not about vomiting [because, screw it, if I've got to vomit I will puke all over everything! :D]but passing out...I start to feel light headed and worrying I'll pass out makes me feel even more nauseous and faint.I Buy valium and xanax illegally and carry one or two. they make me dopey and sleepy but they get rid of the nausea and fear.now if I had insurance I'm sure there would be a better, legal solution ... I guess we'll see who wins the elections here, eh?

re: #19 (Compazine)

I'd suggest finding out there is a physical reason behind the nausea, first.

Some medical conditions can cause nausea (e.g. kidney problems, various liver problems including hepatitis (and STD), bowel problems, meds reactions, etc.)

Fear (anxiety) can cause attacks of nausea (and diarrhea), etc.

It is a sympathetic nervous system thing to protect us when we are under attack or eat something toxic (in nature).

I'd really recommend reading WAKING THE TIGER to understand how the Stress Response is affecting you and your health.

Wow, reading some of the posts in this thread were like reading about myself, especially the parts about being afraid to throw up away from a bathroom or trashcan and the increased nervousness in restaurants. Thanks everyone for all of the suggestions in this thread! It is nice to know you're not alone.
