In some ways, he can be correct. Misdiagnosis is a two-way street.

The short-term effect was a "heart-breaking" dampening of spirit and creativity.

In the longer term, Dr Jacobs, said there was concern the drugs could inhibit physical and mental growth.

If the medication is dampening spirit and creativity then it's either the wrong medication or the dose is too high. The same can be said about the medication inhibiting physical growth.

It makes total sense thet there are more cases of AD/HD in Australia than in the UK. AD/HD is thought to be genitic and Australia started as a place for the UK to send people who committed crimes. We all know that there is huge connection between AD/HD and people who don't follow rules...

After reading this post, and the associated link, a) I recant my lazefair (spelling?) attitude about Jacob's irresponsible statements and b) I thank Penultimate for such an excellent post.

I treat my daughter with adderal and well...she graduated 7th grade taking 9th grade Algebra, and out of all her classes for whole school year, averaged a 3.9 GPA, and received numurous awards this year. That is a complete turn around from her pre-medication days. And she loves her ability to achieve to her potential. It is still a task and a half for her, to do so well, even with medication, but at least now it is possible, whereas pre-medication it was simply not going to happen. Thankfully, the specialists we saw were also relying on the overwhelming scientific data when we were advised to try stimulant medication for her.

Thanks again!

Jon
