Hello. I am considering putting my daughter into a study being conducted on children with ADD and the medication Tenex (guanfacine). It is FDA approved and was originally used for hypertension. Has anyone had any experiences with this?

I took tenex for awhile. I have heard that it is good for hyperactivity. I have Tourettes Syndrome and was hoping it would calm me down. But I was so very tired all the time. To give you an example, I work in downtown Houston and there is a tunnel system. I ride the bus in from Park n Ride and would have to walk from where the bus lets me off at through the tunnels to my office. It got where it was to much for me to walk and a few times I had to call someone to come and help me carry my purse and bag because I felt like I did not have the energy to.

But please remember that these meds act differently on different individuals I just happen to be one of those people that is very sensitive to meds.

I can't remember how long I took it. I did not like the side effects, so for that reason, I got off the medication.
