Ok I am trying, TRYING to comparison shop online. I need a PDA/Pocket PC whatever. I do NOT want to spend over 300 bucks on this thing.
This is what I need it for:
Alarm (for meds, appts, etc).
Finances (Balancing checkbook etc...something that can support something like Quicken etc).
E-mail (maybe....I can take this or leave it).
Contacts
Calendar with alarm (for b-days and such).
I NEED HELP. Can anyone point me in the write direction.
Thank you.

I bought a very simple one used for $60 a few months ago and it's the best for me. I don't have any need for half the bells and whistles on the newer ones mostly because my internet access is limited. Your milage may vary.
My old m125 palm pilot does all you mention and more.
There is a long thread here that was discussing the pro's and con's of all sorts of different types of pda's. You might want to go back and read through what has been said already.
Hope this helps. Ian.

You don't need anything fancy to do what you want it to do. Wireless (for wifi hotspots) or Bluetooth (if you have a Bluetooth phone) would be helpful so you can send and receive email when you're away from home, but as you said that's not a necessity. Everything else you mentioned is available on just about every PDA out there. I find the Palm OS much more user-friendly and stable than Pocket PC, but that's just me. You definitely shouldn't have to spend too much on it. Look at PalmOne and Sony for Palm OS, and Dell, HP, and Toshiba for Pocket PC. Any of their lower-end or mid-priced models should be fine. Don't stress. :)
I would recommend the Dell X30. I got it from Dell andthis message is the first time I have ever used this Pda .3min. out of the Box and I'm on the net talking to you. I would also get list pro program with alarms.
