Here's a discussion I found on another forum for anyone who wants to get scared about Effexor withdrawl:

Interesting discussion of Antidepressants in general also.

I found another discussion board with a tremendous amount of info about effexor:

Not much about ADD but....

I'm getting off the effexor for now though it's been good I'd like to try something else and don't want to get serious withdrawal if I'm on it for too long. My thought is Prozac with a stimulant.

One thing I read about effexor is that it's primarily an SSRI and the noradrenaline doesn't kick in unless on high doses but I don't think that's true for me as it disturbs my sleep.

Reading the group linked above it is amazing the variety of experiences folks have with this med!! It is powerful stuff no doubt.

i've been on 300 mg efexor for a little over a year now, and it's working *great* for me - no side effects whatsoever...
:)
i *did* try to go without them for a while (four days, i think...):
i did the "cold turkey" thing, which was *not* good - *not* good at all!
in fact, it may have been the most *stupid* thing i've *ever* done...
:(
on the second day off efexor i had *severe* tremors (à la parkinson's), which scared me (almost) to death...
i also started getting a *wee* (i e *totally*) bit paranoid, so on the fourth day my friends called my doctor, and since then i've n *sworn* i'll *never* try something like that again...

(maybe i should have stated at the beginning of this post that my doctor knew *nothing* about my trying to get off efexor - boy, was she *mad*/*infuriated* when she found out!;-)
:D
