View Full Version : Frozen Hiking At Hemlock Cliffs

My wife and I went hiking today and had a lot of fun. It was cold, but we got to go somewhere I've always wanted to go in this kind of weather. I've heard it is spectacular, and it didn't disappoint. The photos don't do it justice, and I'm no photog anyway, just a guy with a camera that likes to have fun and share. So, here's our little excursion today:

Me, standing among these little trees that actually keep their leaves in the winter:

Me, headed down the icy rock steps that go down into the cliff region:

Me again, standing by the icicles to show the scale of them:

My wife took this one of me to show how large the chunks of ice were that had fallen from above:

Ice up close, with a bit of water behind it:

My wife usually likes to get inside of trees, this time she got her pic taken inside of the roots of a tree:

The waterfall was mostly frozen, but you can see that it is falling a bit, with icy "pits" at the bottom that have formed, which the water falls into:
