Does anybody else watch the show Scrubs? Tonight they replayed a great episode. (http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/GuidePageServlet/showid-3613/epid-301762/) Ben (Brendan Fraser) returns after two years of traveling the world. (In a previous episode Ben was diagnosed with Leukemia.) Throughout the show Dr. Cox and Ben reminisced about old times and generally had a good time. At the end Dr. Cox is joking with Ben as they (apparently) go to Cox’s son’s birthday party. Then they cut back and you realize that they are at Ben’s funeral.

The focus of the episode was forgiveness. Cox had to learn to forgive people. In one scene Ben told him to forgive another doctor for making a medical mistake. As he is sitting at the funeral staring at Ben’s coffin you realize that he still has to forgive himself for not being able to save his best friend.

Watching the episode for the second time I realized that Ben was dead the whole time. He was a figment of Dr. Cox’s imagination. I haven’t seen a moving show like that in years, maybe ever. I can’t wait for it to come out on DVD.

I love Scrubs and have just been watching the first season on DVD. I haven't seen the episode you described, but I did see the two part episode with Brendan Fraser in the first season. I don't mind the spoiler - the director eluded to it on the bonus commentary on the DVD.

Watching the first season, I became convinced that Elliot has ADD. She said in one episode that "it's much harder" for her - she has to read medical journals every night. In the first season, she is portrayed as generally frazzled, studying constantly, unable to communicate well with with others, easily overwhelmed. In one episode, Elliot says she is "not going to let the little stuff get to her" to which J.D. remarks that she hid in her room and cried when they came over and brought the wrong kind of chips.

By the way, I love TV on DVD. I usually can't watch a whole television show because the commercial breaks are so distracting. But a DVD is commercial free - so not only do I have no distractions, but I can also watch a complete show in 22 minutes!

Hehe, yeah I can definately relate to JD...the way he stares off and imagines some random scenario.
I think when he zones out it's probably a fair bit more extreme than when I do (for example I won't be standing on the spot performing the action of groping someone when there's no one there)...but I can relate to his thought processes.

Actually I'm a fan of the janitor. I'm afraid it's showing when I do job interviews...

"Hire me and no one gets hurt" is a joke, folks! Sheesh...
