are you left- or righthanded, or maybe ambidexterious (equally good at using both hands for for example writing, sewing, picking your nose *smiling* etc)?

let's have a poll!
:D

I'm very much right handed, but after an electrical shock temporarily damaged muscles in my right hand, I was quick to gain dexterity and strength in my Left hand.

I'm very right-handed, but my wife and both kids are left handed. My son is somewhat more ambidextrous, but my daughter is as left-handed as I am right-handed.

Undiagnosed as of yet, but right-handed. I became especially so after I broke my right hand at 14 and had to rehabilitate it after the cast came off...I overdid it and favor it too much now.

I write right-handed, but for everything else am constantly switching back and forth. My hobbies (dance and drumming) demand equal time for both right and left.

was left, in the country where i was born , lefties are considered evil or dangerous and so i was "converted" to right. i still can do this with both hands so i guess that makes me ambi.

Ambidextrous. I write and draw with my left, and do everything else with my right. I CAN write with my right hand, but I'm just not used to it. I assume that is what ambidexterity is, anyway.

I am so very right handed. The only thing I have found I can do with my left hand is play shuffleboard. My ex-husband insisted I put my right hand behind my back and learn to play with left hand too. It worked. Its one of the very few "competitive" things I like and can do fairly well.

I'm ambidextrous: naturally sinistrous but learned dextrosity. It works in my benefit, although the whole dyslexia thing is not made easier by the fact that I can only write with my subordinate hand...

Wow. Bigger number of ambi's than I would have expected...

I am right handed for the most part....I write with my right hand. I can also do a few things with both such as typing and playing piano (what little I know). There are a FEW things I do strictly with my left hand.....um....and I think it might be kinda gross to mention one of those things :D

I'm ambidextrous. The only thing I do with my left hand is write. When I'm standing at a black board I'm right handed.

I used to mess with my kindergarten teacher's head whe I did my ABC's on the blackboard. I would start left handed and switch hands at LMNOP. I was offended when she gave me a pair of lefty scissors because I did just fine with the righty ones.

The poll question is not very well defined in the first place and I personally think that no one can answer this question until the word "ambidextrous" as been more specifically defined and elaborated.

I am HARD-CORE right handed.

But ... I can write almost as well with my feet as i can with my hand ... does that count?

Ambidextrous, although everyone considers me a "leftie" which isn't correct, since I write with my left hand, play guitar like a righty though and do most things that require strength with my right hand as well.

Completly and totally a southpaw. The one and only thing I do right handed is play hockey, but I have not done that in a few years! I did golf right handed at one time, but no longer, I now do it the "right" way!

right handed. but I wonder if this would be a good study since most of the population is right handed too. I don't see any connection.....but it is an interesting idea and question!

Ambidextrous.

I write, smoke, and eat with my left hand primarily, but use my right hand to do things like use scissors and pour drinks from a pitcher and catch or throw (snowballs or something.) This also depends on tremor activity on a brain-glitchy-sparky day, though. Sometimes it's just whichever hand is shaking less, or else I just give up and have someone help me so I don't accidentally spill juice all over the floor or something. :)

I'm ambi... write with my right hand (small and messy, as my friend decribes it!) but rely heavily on my left hand. Usually I get distracted if I have to think which hand is left and right. Makes for some interesting driving directions! "No, go that way! No! The other way!"

I use both. I never really thought about it. If I have to write something I use the hand that is closer to the pen.

Lefty all the way.
When I'm cooking and take out a knife people leave the kitchen.
Something about seeing me use a knife left handed makes them nervous. lol
Most people find my kitchen confusing any way because its set up for a lefty.

So far I haven't been able to find a person who could teach a lefty how to bowl.
Or how to knit.
But I did find a hand can opener for left handed people.
I love it.

Predominate Right Handed...

I am able to work with my left hand, but am less precise with fine motor skills as compared to the right....

I can use both hands well but write with my right hand. I don't hold a pen, or pencil like other people do, instead I place it in between two of my fingers. Does anyone else hold a pen or pencil different?

I'm not convinced being left or right handed is that relevant to adhd. I am right-handed but reasonably ambidextrous.

However, more importantly, I am right-handed but left oriented. Something which might be linked to dyspraxia. There are all kinds of tests one can do to find out whether one's orientation doesn't match your dominant hand.

If your dominant eye is left and your dominant hand is right this also linked to bad spatial insight etc and clumsiness, something that often coincedes with adhd.

So do any of you know your directionality, and does it match your dominant hand?
