The 9 year old boy who lives next to me went Friday night ! I"m so jealous. His mom got the tickets FREE ! What luck. I tried back in March to get tickets for us and I couldn't get more than 1 seat !

okay,,,replying to "Nomar trade" above....I am mixed about it....the Sox lost a great player....BUT they needed offense desparately....and got it....and quite frankly.....Nomar hadn't been himself since the season started....yeah sure his Achilles injury and all certainly wasn't his fault.....but he was a free agent after all....and I think a trade involving him was just waiting to happen....Meanwhile the Sox have been HOT as of late....:)

Astros and Braves are tied one game a piece. Game 3 and 4 here in houston, and i've got tickets for both games :) Hopefully we will win both games, and not have to go back to Atlanta.

True Kevin. They can't go wrong with Schilling. But unfortunately in last night's game against the Yankees (the first ALCS game) he got knocked out pretty badly right away....due to the hurting ankle? Who knows. But he is solid. No doubt.

I am not a big baseball fan in any stretch of the imagiation, but I grew up a Yankees fan. I remember flipping baseball cards with the neighborhood kids when I was 6 ...trying to win cards of my favorite Yanks. The Yankees were the greatest back then.

But years of Yankee wins, all that money to buy a super-power team ...kinda makes baseball lose it's shine. Used to be players were dedicated to their teams. Now it seems like they don't have much team loyalty ...just want the big bucks. The Yankees today are not the Yankees that I grew up loving.

And truth be told, "Underdog" was always one of my favorite cartoons. I am always drawn to the underdog. The more the odds are stacked against you, the more I'm on your side, rooting with all my might. So I gotta say...

Another fabulous win from behind. Too bad the next game will be in NY, but hey --that just makes the Sox even more the underdog. Hoping they chase those big, bad sabertooths up a tree and don't never let em down til they's mewing like a kitty.

BUT HOW ABOUT THOSE CONTROVERSIAL PLAYS.....i.e. the homer by Bellhorn that almost wasn't (as it hit the fan) and even more controversial....AROD'S knocking the ball out of Arroho's glove so he wouldn't get him out.....(known as "running interference"). I say the umpires called BOTH OF THESE PLAYS VERY WELL....

By the way, the Sox made history last night.....NOBODY has ever tied up a postseason series after having come from behind 3 games to zero.....

I am late posting on this. I root for the M's, but last night was a great night. You are right the Big, the pitching and the bull pen were the yankees weak link. I was so glad that A-rod's team again cannot make it to the series. You can tell that I still hold bitter memories from his time on the M's. It was a great series and nice to see the Sox finally beat the Yankees in the playoffs! I am sure as Boston fans you are walking on air.

Just got the word that Wakefield will be the starting pitcher in Game one of the WORLD SERIES AT FENWAY.....He had last pitched in game five of ACLS....the 14 inning stint.....he pitched the last three innings brilliantly........He was 12-10 in the regular season.....

NOW THE NATIONAL LEAGUE USES NO DESIGNATED HITTERS......That means when the Sox are in St. Louis or Houston -- the PITCHER actually HITS.......They are in the batting line-up....Usually last......Interesting.....BUT now Ortiz being the DH for the Sox -- has to play a fielding position.....in order to be in the line-up.....so he's scheduled to play first base -- when in St. Louis or Houston.....

Congradulations to the Sox and their fans. I am very impressed with their comeback and defeated the Yanks. I am glad to see their going to the Series!

I am originally a San Francisco Giants fan, but I have relatives in Massachusettes so I naturally root for those teams when they do well. Go Patriots too! I guess we will have to take a rain check on the Bruins. Go Celtics, until they play the Kings :-)

Sidenote, I get to go to a Kings game on Nov 16th with my boss and team from work!

all the " Red Sox fans" come out of the woodwork....I REALIZE this is a big deal to the people of Boston, etc...its HUGE! BUT, how many of you are actually baseball or have always been Red Sox fans? to be honest, I am a HUGE A's fan(from the Bay Area) and dislike BOTH the Yankess and Boston. BUT, I do think its a good day for all of baseball and the town of Boston and its loyal fans(although there are about 10 million bandwagoners on board right now). I just don't like it when people only watch the 2-3 games a year(World Series) and then claim to be these HUGE Red Sox fans, how happy they are...come on.

BTW, I am NOT dissing peple on here like Joan(obviously, you have been a loyal fan for years), just making a statement in general about people around the country.

I don't follow baseball closely, I am always impressed by occurences like this. More important to me than the winning is the awesome riots in Boston.

My team is the Buccos, and they are terrible...so I am allowed to feel good about other people winning.
